the FFEM-EECCA project

Monitoring and Assessment” of the UNECE
transboundary water convention
Objective: Study how water data management can be
reinforced in order to facilitate transboundary basins
water management and joint assessments in EECCA
countries
Steering committee: FFEM (French GEF= funding
organization) / French Ministry of Ecology/
Secretariat of the Water Convention
• Mandated beneficiary: HIS/IWAC (Slovakia)
• Technical assistance: IOWater (France)

Implemented in Central Asia (Aral sea basin) under the
supervision of the IFAS executive committee (EC-IFAS)

system in Tajikistan:
On request of the “Ministry of Melioration and Water Resources of
the Republic of Tajikistan”, a feasibility study
of the national information system in the water sector was realized,
with recommendations on its global architecture, governance organization
and implementation action plan.

Contribution to the enabling of the legislative environment in
Turkmenistan:
In the framework of the National Policy Dialogue activities in Turkmenistan,
the project presented some recommendations to be considered in the water
code revision in order to facilitate the integrated water data administration
at national level.
