This document discusses Information and Communications Technology (ICT). It provides definitions and explanations of key concepts related to ICT. Specifically:
ICT encompasses all digital technologies used for computing, networking, telecommunications, and managing and processing electronic data. This includes the internet, computers, software, applications, operating systems, and devices that allow networking and interaction in the digital world.
ICT has various components, including data, information, hardware, software, procedures, and people. When these components are combined through various technologies and processes, they allow for storage, retrieval, analysis, processing, transmission and distribution of electronic data and information.
Digital technology relies on computers and microprocessors. It involves transforming all data and information into
Information technology (IT) involves the use of computers and telecommunications to store, retrieve, transmit, and protect information. It is commonly used as a synonym for computers and computer networks. Key aspects of IT include computer hardware, software, electronics, and computer services. While humans have stored and communicated information for thousands of years, the term "information technology" emerged in the 1950s with the development of computers and digital networks. IT has now become essential in many industries and aspects of modern life.
This document provides an overview of information technology, including its history, present role, hardware and software components, advantages and disadvantages, and benefits. It traces the development of IT from the 1960s-1970s when the term was first used in banks and hospitals for data storage, to the 1980s introduction of personal computers and the information age. Modern IT involves interconnected networks and remote data storage. While facilitating information delivery and global business, advances in IT also enable access to inappropriate content and illicit transactions, so its impacts must be managed carefully.
Information technology refers to the combination of computer hardware, software, and telecommunications to process data, store information, and share knowledge. Advances in IT have enabled enormous data processing and storage capabilities as well as rapid information distribution through networks. However, technology is a tool that can be used for both positive and negative outcomes, so its development must be guided towards beneficial applications.

Living In Information Technology Era (LivITEra) Module 1 (Week 1) INTRODUCTION Information Technology History Technology presently includes advancements in communication and how the information is handled, thus enabling the governments, organizations, industries, and ordinary individuals to improve on their decision making, business processes and everyday living. ICT (Information & Communication Technology) was defined in a study by Zuppo (2012)as related to technologies that facilitate the transfer of information and various types of electronically mediated communication Although there is no single, universal definition of ICT, the term is generally accepted to mean all devices, networking components, applications and systems that combined allow people and organizations (i.e., businesses, nonprofit agencies, governments and criminal enterprises) to interact in the digital world. The need for devices such as mobile phones, laptops, and tablets is highly in demand Information- refers to knowledge obtained from reading investigation, study or research. Some of the tools that transmit information are the telephone, television, and radio. This should not be confused with data. Information is regarded as processed data. Processed information – is called knowledge. This knowledge helps fulfill daily tasks Ex: The information about weather update & know the necessity to bring umbrella The knowledge to analyze the stock market and check which company is worth investing in Uses of ICT in our Daily Lives 1. Communication-is an act of transmitting messages; a process of exchange of information between individuals through verbal and non-verbal means. In prehistoric days, humans communicated through signs or symbols as evidenced by care paintings and drawings, rock art, stone carvings, and the like. Forms of communications have evolved. We all know that ICT take a major role for us by means of communicating, way back in the past our parents use to make letter and send it via post mail. But now with the help of ICT it is easier to communicate with our love ones. We can use cellular phones that design for communicating with other people even they are miles away far from you. 2. Job Opportunities- In the employment sector, ICT enables organizations to operate more efficiently, so employing staff with ICT skills is vital to the smooth running of any business. Being able to use ICT systems effectively allows employees more time to concentrate on areas of their job role that require soft skills. Ex: Many pharmacies use robot technology to assist with picking prescribed drugs.

Supercharge Your AI Development with Local LLMsFrancesco Corti
In today's AI development landscape, developers face significant challenges when building applications that leverage powerful large language models (LLMs) through SaaS platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, and others. While these services offer impressive capabilities, they come with substantial costs that can quickly escalate especially during the development lifecycle. Additionally, the inherent latency of web-based APIs creates frustrating bottlenecks during the critical testing and iteration phases of development, slowing down innovation and frustrating developers.
This talk will introduce the transformative approach of integrating local LLMs directly into their development environments. By bringing these models closer to where the code lives, developers can dramatically accelerate development lifecycles while maintaining complete control over model selection and configuration. This methodology effectively reduces costs to zero by eliminating dependency on pay-per-use SaaS services, while opening new possibilities for comprehensive integration testing, rapid prototyping, and specialized use cases.

About Power Grid Model
The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.

That means choosing the best possible infrastructure for your needs—and many companies are finding that the cloud isn’t right for them. According to a recent Rackspace survey of IT executives, 69 percent of companies have moved some of their applications on-premises from the cloud, with half of those citing security and compliance as the reason and 44 percent citing cost.
On-premises solutions provide a number of advantages. With full control over your security infrastructure, you can be certain that all compliance requirements remain firmly in the hands of your IT team. Opting for on-premises also gives you the ability to design your infrastructure to the precise needs of that team and your new AI workloads. Depending on the workload, you may also see performance benefits, along with more predictable costs. As you start to build your next AI initiative, consider an on-premises solution utilizing AMD EPYC processor-powered Dell PowerEdge servers.
