Initial reaction
• My initial reaction for making this is happy and excited because I’m doing something I enjoy a lot because I like
fashion and I use to really like looking at magazines when I was younger but because social media is getting bigger
and better people nowadays like myself don’t read magazine anymore. Which is upsetting as people put a lot of
hard work into making these magazines and making sure it looks its best and eye catching but by the time they
sell the product its already on the internet that people are finding out for free. Which is now making magazines go
up in price as many people aren't buying them. I have done something similar to this before last year but instead
of it being minimalistic it was bright and bold so I thought it will still be fun to doing the same fashion idea but
different type of fashion and a different theme as it changes the look completely. I like how you can think of ideas
and then actually make them into actual products instead of just imagining it.

Ideas for mind map 1
• These are my 3 ideas that I would like to do but going to chose one that I’m defiantly going to
make as a product I like all 3 of these because they’re all things that people like to see/read
about either online or in a magazine. the 3 ideas are fashion which is the one I’m leaning
towards the most, then there’s celebrities which I would write about their lives and what
their life is like in a day, what fashion they like to wear etc. the last idea is photography of
either nature or art like the ones you see in museums. The most enjoyable one to me is the
fashion one as I have done something very similar as you have see in the in a previous slide
before this one I have done this before and really enjoyed it. But I was thinking I might do
something different like the other 2 ideas I have mentioned in the mind map but I kept going
back to the fashion magazine. However I would make It look completely different to my
previous one before. Which was bold and bright where with this one I might make it
minimalistic so clean looking not a lot happening which is very different to the other
magazine I made as that had a lot going on and had bold colours to it not light and pastel
colours that I would intend in my magazine this time.

MODELS
For my actual product I'm wanting to do a fashion
magazine. so for one of the ideas I have came come up
with is models so I would like to have 2 models at least to
model in my magazine and as you can see here I have
written all the reasons why I would like a few different
models. So overall the reasoning to why I want more
models is because just for an example when you are
shopping online and see something you like but you click
on it and there's someone who is not the same body
shaped as you and cant really see what it would look like
on themselves which is unfair as they show it on such
petite models so there's one of the reasons. The other
reason is it will please everyone linking to what I just said if
they click on an item they like they can through the images
and see different body shapes in each picture which will
help them imagine what it would look like on themselves.
So hopefully I will be able to get different females to model
for my magazines if not I'm hoping ill still have at least 2
people in the magazine to make it look a lot more
entertaining.

SKETCHES
With the sketches I'm
wanting to have the look of
the clothing being made so
having the sketches will
make it look like we planned
the clothing to look like this
then have the room where
we made all the clothing and
then have the models wear
the clothing that we have
made. However what I'm
going to do to make it look
like it happened that way is
pick the clothing I’m wanting
my model to wear and then
once I have them all sorted I
can then draw sketches of
each item and make it look
like we made them from
scratch.

GALLERY OF CLOTHES
The last part I’m going to
do is like an art gallery but
instead of art its going to
be images of my model
wearing the clothing on a
double page spread
instead of it being a lot of
text as many people now
like to look at images
instead of text so it will
appeal to more people
because of that. Also I
don’t really need any
writing for it anyway as the
people who will be looking
at the magazine will
already know a lot about
fashion so they will know
what item is what.
I feel this will be more
enjoyable for my audience
as well which is he aim for
people to enjoy it not get
bored by it.

All about the colour/layout
• With the colours I wanted pastels as its nice and fresh because its bright and colourful without it being in your
face. I feel because I’m going for the minimalist look I felt that the colours are an important part to it as it will
show the type of magazine I’m wanting to go for. I got a mix of pastel colours like yellow, blue, pink, green and
beige as I felt they would go best with my magazine I have in mind because they aren't overpowering to the
eye they are soft and makes you calm. As you can see with the colours in the actual mood board showing the
colours compared to these colours on this page they are a lot bolder some of them I would use as they are
lighter however the darker colours aren't the theme I'm wanting to go for as pastels for my magazine and
going bold with deep colours would go with it and will start to confuse people with what I'm actually going
with.
• With the magazine layout I went with the work minimalistic because there isn’t a lot going on in them
and its all spaced out making it easy to look at each specific part of the magazine. I liked the look of
having either a leaf or text on one side of the page then text on the other side with a colour as the
background I feel that it will keep the simple look but still look interesting to read. It also adds a little
more dimension to the magazine as it will look a little boring if there wasn’t a lot going on, if it was all
text then it wouldn’t appeal to anyone which is against what I am trying to do. I am aiming to target my
audience and get them interested in the things I add to my magazine.

• Inside the magazine I’m wanting to do some sketches of models and a fashion room as I feel that would make the
magazine have a little more to it than it just having words and a few images. I’m wanting to have sketches of different
things and I feel drawing them to show a little more than just a picture especially because it’ll look more professional
as I don’t have any fashion rooms to go to. Another reason why I wanted to add sketches is because I know many
people like the look of sketches as it’s a personally thing that people enjoy either doing as a job or as a hobby so
including it to my magazine, one adds more dimension and creativity and two people know the amount of effort the
magazine would have been by having to hand draw the sketches. So people might enjoy the knew style to the
magazine a many magazine companies don’t do that, they usually just take pictures of the models wearing the
clothing.
• With the patterns I’m wanting to have them behind the writing or just on the cover of the magazine. So will want to
have the model in the middle with the name of the magazine at the top and behind it all. I will want to have a pattern
to add a little more to it than it just being a blank cover. Or have leaves on a cover I feel that it looks different, unique
looking and will bring colour to the magazine even more than the pastels. I feel that because I'm going to go for a
quite plain background as I'm wanting to go into the studio to take my photos of my model and use the white
background so I already know the background is going to be white so I'm wanting to add for example a pattern in the
background to make it pop more and doesn’t look so boring.

All about the font
• With the fonts I would like a fresh and clean look and I feel the 2 here are my favourite
especially the one on the right I feel that it would go really well with the theme I’m wanting
to go with which is a simple, minimal look so it’ll go well with it as its simple looking but
fancier than normal font like the one I am using now so it might make it look a little fancier
which will hopefully attract my target audience. If this doesn’t turn out the way I'm wanting it
to I could use something similar like the one on my left as I’m using the two fonts however I
might find better ones on 1001 fonts/dafont depending on what I like when I see all my work
together.

Mood Board Analysis
How does your mood board inspire your project?
My mood board inspires me because I really like the minimalistic look where its all clean and fresh looking
than it being all in your face and not really knowing what to look at some people don’t like that look
including myself, I feel that I get uninterested when I see things with a lot of writing or just too much is
going on in a small space so I like to go for the clean look.
I feel that when you have an idea of what type of theme you would like to do as you can see from my mood
boards they are all fresh looking and look sleek so when you have a starting point from there you just think
what else would go well with that look so when I was getting the font like I have made on another mood
board I really liked the spaced out font as I felt it goes well with my theme and then just natural font would
look good but still goes well with the minimalistic look. Also with actual magazines that I like they’re all
simple looking but still noticeable by the way of the layout by it looking sophisticated.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
My mood board will influence me for my final product as I can see what style I would like to do and keep
looking up similar looks and keep expanding on what I like and put them together with my own twist as I
feel people will like a different look than it just being the same of other magazines that already exist. I also
think that the sketches will defiantly be in my final product as I really like that look as you have something
different than there just being an interview or images I feel that seeing sketches of models and a fashion
room like a studio as I love seeing things like that in magazines as its unique and it just makes me want to
continue reading it. I personally like unique things I’m not a fan of always seeing the same thing everywhere
as I get bored very quickly where if there’s different topics or different way of showing your work then I like
that because people have thought about it and not just copied other people.

Key Influences
What I like about this type of style is that
it’s minimalistic, there isn't a lot
happening which to some people might
not like that look as they like to read a
lot of information to keep them
interested however I really like the look
of it being really clean looking and
unique. I never really see magazines like
this in shops.
What I like about the double page spread is that I
really like how its got one page that’s very bland
but it’s still eye catching as there’s a word spelling
unique then on the other side of the page there
are words talking about what the magazine is
about and then images as well to not make it look
to like there's not just words on the page.
With the front cover again many people might find
this cover very boring as there's nothing going on,
its very white and nothing is standing out however
I like how its very minimalist as personally if I saw a
magazine like that I would want to open it and see
hat its about as there is nothing showing what it is
about.
With mine I would like to do
something similar to this but
add more colour as I feel that
adding a few colours might
bring it out a little more
make it highlighted for
people to be interested in it.
With the cover they
have made the title
small to make the
image pop out even
though the colour
scheme for this is
very white but
because the model
has black hair that’s
where you
concentrate straight
away as that’s the
colour standing out.
This magazine is very
monochrome which many
people like as it looks
professional and sleek. Many
people nowadays like to buy
magazines/books that look
aesthetically pleasing to
display as a decoration
around their homes as well
so making a magazine that
has that to it will also get a
lot of attention.

Key Influences
Another big influence are celebrities a lot
of people now like to see what celebrities
are wearing to keep up with the trends.
People my age aged 15-24 like going on
Instagram where everyone posts pictures
of fashion/makeup etc. so by seeing what
my audience like to wear it will help with
my magazine as people.
Big celebrities for example, Kim Kardashian,
Beyoncé, Rihanna who have a big fan base
many people like to go onto their social
media sites to see what is happening with
their lives and what fashion they’re wearing
to see what they like and what might make
the audience or their fan base go and buy
themselves.
People like to online shop as
they find it easier and that
they can find things a lot
easier. For example they
might see one of their
favourite celebrities wearing
something that they like and
they can search for
something similar for a
cheaper price so seeing what
the celebrities like to wear I
can add them items of
clothing to my magazine to
keep my audience up to date
with what is trending or just
clothes in general they might
like.
If celebrities post anything about a brand
either it being fashion or makeup people go
out and buy it from them saying good things
about it which makes their audience go and
buy them products as soon as possible.
Some YouTube's who are
classed as celebrities or just
well known it’s the same for
them when promoting a brand
people see the product they’re
promoting and then go out
and buy them. They also give
discount codes to get it
cheaper which makes them
want to go out and buy them
even more as they’re cheaper
than usual.

Influences
The teenagers/young adults around 15-
24 will influences my project because
females like to express the way they
look to either improve their mood so
they feel better about themselves. So
this is good for me because I know
females like shopping and looking for
clothes so by me knowing that I can
then target my magazine to them which
will be about fashion.
As I’m a similar age to the age
group I’m targeting at its
helpful for me to ask questions
around that age group because
my friends are also the same
age as me or older so I can get
a different range of questions
to see what type of fashion
they like.
Like I have said for the celebrity slide, social media comes into it a lot as
nowadays social media is used everyday on a daily so by seeing what people
like the most on Instagram it will help me a lot when it comes to creating my
magazine. It will help me because if I collect the information of the type of
clothing my target audience like I can include that into my magazines so it will
attract them when they come to buying it. There's no point me making a
magazine that doesn’t include any of the items they like as no one will want to
purchased my product which will then defeat the whole point of creating it.
Another thing is that I feel that
by it being on a magazine
instead of it being on a phone it
will make teenagers and young
adults take time off their
phones which is good as
everyone is addicted to their
phones so it would be good for
them to take breaks but still
read something they enjoy
which will be my magazine
about fashion I will include the
clothes that people like the
most by going onto Instagram
and online shops and finding
what sells the quickest and the
most and include that for my
audience to enjoy.
