employing AVEVA Hull Design™ and Outfitting™ modules and the extraction functionality of AVEVA
Marine Draft™ to create drawings. Noble Ocean carried out one of the world’s first design concept to
use a jack up platform as lighthouse. AVEVA enabled Noble Oceans to gain more control on the
project by providing the macros for making the annotations on the isometric drawings in the manner
specified by the client.

Project Overview
One of the world’s first design concept to use a
jack up platform as lighthouse.
Due to site constraints, this concept was the
most cost effective solution.
Before we were engaged the Project was mid-way
with respect to engineering and construction
using another 3D modeling software.

Project Challenges
The project came to us with a few hurdles to conquer:
 Catch up with the Construction schedule
 Incomplete and ongoing basic design
 End user having an infrastructural
background with minimal marine expertise
 Interfacing with multiple vendors located in different time
zones
 Project completion in 5 months

Project Execution
Model centric approach utilizing
AVEVA Hull Design & Outfitting
modules.
3D design extraction functionality of
AVEVA Marine Drafting
was used to create drawings.

High Level Business Values
Existing model converted to *.SDNF format was read
into PDMS via Interoperability tool
Equipment modeling in 3D was critical for space
saving & to secure client approvals prior to site
execution.
Multi user & Multi discipline modeling allowed us to
work in parallel to achieve the tight schedule.

We could verify and review design options on the model before issuance of drawings
We eliminated the multiple issuance of drawings by all stakeholders focusing on the model
review.
We could avoid potentially disastrous clashes and consequent rework

Customizing the model based on frequent client
driven changes was quick.
Clash detection upon these changes was added
advantage.
Isolation of selected components for analyzing the
clash locations was convenient.

Nesting & assembly drawing
generation
Piping Isometric drawing
generation
Project specific coordinates

AVEVA helped us gain more control on the
project by giving us macros for making the
annotations on the isometric drawings in
the manner specified by the client.
The tremendous & timely technical
support from local and UK Aveva offices
played a vital role.
