The meaning of the world Jamdhani is Jam means flower and dhani means a container. Jamdhani is a 
hand-woven technique of Bengal that creates patterns of various colours and designs on silk as well as 
cotton sarees. From Mughal season onward this Jamdhani is famous. 
Jamdhani silk sarees are the ancient and foremost garments basically evolved from a muslin fiber. 
Mostly areas of Bengal and Bangladesh have expert weavers in Jamdhani style sarees. From 14 th 
century onwards the work become expensive because of the man power and procedures involves. 
Generally two weavers sit at each end of loom one weaves has to notice the broken threads and make 
them exact by using same color threads.
