What Does It Take to be Globally Competitive? By: Jeff Thomas
In my common objective opinion, I believe that kids should be taught young about working hard to achieve their goals. But it is very important for every student to first learn, HOW TO LEARN. This simply means that kids are taught all kinds of different things from the age of 5 all the way to there mid 20’s or even 30’s. If a person does not learn early HOW TO LEARN then they probably wont be very globally competitive or successful. Being globally competitive requires a large amount of QUALITY education and it can be taught and obtained in many ways which is the teacher’s and the students responsibility to figure out the correct method. Start Young
Learning how to learn is a very valuable skill in becoming globally competitive. Once it is learned it makes learning much easier and the subjects that you study more interesting. In order to be globally competitive a student needs to have passion for what he/she is learning. Another reason that learning how to learn is important is because the world is ever changing and in the future in order to be globally competitive it will be necessary to have continuing education. Continuing Education
Preparing for the Future As we saw in the film, many children in different countries prepare themselves in many different ways for their future. In the film 2,000,000 minutes, we saw how different ethnicities prepared for their careers, and some of the individual steps and decisions both the student and the families made. Family is a huge part of becoming globally competitive these days. In my opinion, in order to be globally competitive one needs to be: Dedicated to their education Open minded towards opportunities And pushed towards goals that he/she sets
Family First In the video, the family played a huge part in the student’s decision making as far as a career. In order to be globally competitive, I think one should be unique with their skills. Therefore, they should be supported by their families and not pushed to a career he/she might not want to pursue. VS
Getting on Track Almost every child knows what they want to be when they grow up…. In our recent reading’s it is said that everyone needs to find their inner “fire truck,” which in context means finding the passion that one has to pursue a career that they would love.To be globally competitive you must have passion for what you do.
THE POWER HOUSE The United States has a reputation of being a very powerful and advanced country. But if we do not stay competitive with our rival nations we will not keep the distance or pressure on other countries as far as advancing. So my next major point in being Globally Competitive is to be COMPETITIVE!
In order to be Globally Competitive we must have leadership. Someone much higher ranked that can motivate us as a country to have higher standards and want to better ourselves, our communities, our workplaces, and our schools. Leadership!
The Competition China India USA
In Conclusion Being Globally Competitive starts in the classroom The Children of today are the competitors of tomorrow Learning HOW to learn is more important than what you learn at any given time Being Competitive Having an open mind “ Minds are like parachute’s, they work better when their open.” ;)
