Abstract
➢ Organizations are build around people and an
environment of mutual understanding and trust.
➢ A good inter-personal relationships improved the
productivity for organization and enhanced
performance for individuals.
✓ Communication is the glue that holds the organization to
gether.
✓ Communication is the key to success for any successful
organization.
✓ In these digital times, effective communication has
become one of the most important parameters to define
organizational effectiveness.
➢This communication model is developed by American psychologists,
Joseph Luft and Harry Ingham in the 1950's, and named as 'JOHARI' by
combining their first names, viz. Joseph and Harry.
➢JOHARI WINDOW provides useful insights for improving interpersonal
communication through self awareness and understanding.
➢This model , if applied properly, not only sensitizes managers to the
importance of soft skills but also help them build an environment of
creativity and collaborative learning.
➢This Model also known as Feedback/Disclosure model of self-awareness.
➢This Model work best in a high trust environment.

Blind Area
It is about how we perceived by others.
The aim is to reduce this area and thereby increase the open area.
The blind area is not an effective or productive space for individuals or groups.
Group members and mangers can take responsible for helping
individual to reduce their blind area by giving the right feedback.

Q2- What is one of your secrets that you
don’t want to share with anyone ?
Q3- What is your biggest fear?

Hidden Area
What is known to ourselves but kept hidden therefore unknown, to others.
(Secrets, Past exp., feelings etc.)
By telling others how you feel increase the Open area, which enables better
understanding, cooperation, trust, team-working effectiveness and productivity.
This also end the misunderstandings, poor communication and confusion etc.

Q2- Do I enjoy what I do?
Q3- Do I have a great skill or talent that I am not
aware about it?

Unknown area is the information is unknown to you as well as others.
