National curriculum assessments, also known as SATs, are taken by students in Year 2 in primary schools in England. The assessments cover reading, spelling, punctuation and grammar, and mathematics. They consist of several short tests that are administered throughout May and are marked by teachers to monitor student progress and determine whether students are working below, at, or exceeding expected academic standards. This document provides information about the format and content of the KS1 SATs to help parents understand and support their children during the assessment period.
