- #4 Topic 1: Quick facts about CXCL13. CXCL13, also known as BLC or BCA1, is a chemotactic cytokine for B lymphocytes that binds to BLR1 or CXCR5. It stimulates calcium influx into, and chemotaxis of, cells transfected with Burkitt's lymphoma receptor 1. The mature form of CXCL13 is 109 amino acids long and runs about 12.6 kilodaltons on Western blot.
- #5 Topic 2: Where is CXCL13 expressed? High levels of CXCL13 RNA expression have been found in the tonsils and spleen, with the highest levels detected in the lymph node. They are also expressed at lower levels in the appendix, small intestine, stomach, thymus, prostate, urinary bladder, and liver. This information will come in handy when designing positive and negative controls for western blot and immunohistochemistry.
