Objectives:
1. Define “adjective” as a describing word.

1. Pictures of nouns
2. Active board
3. Worksheets
Warm- up: The teacher introduces adjectives to the students by having
them think of three words that describe a puppyand an elephant.
Write them on the board. Most of these will be adjectives. (Example :
soft, cute, large, grey.)
Students should restate that an adjective is a word that describes a noun.
They should be able to tell that adjectives often appeal to the five senses,
and that many adjectives end in the suffix -y.
Procedures:
a. Before:
Show through the power point some different pictures of nouns and
sentences next to each picture and then ask the students to fill in the blank
with the correct adjective from the options.
b. During: working on another exercise about choosing the suitable
sentence that describes the picture.

c. After : Independence worksheet.

Closure :
For homework, have students choosefive items that they see around the
house. Under each item, have them list three or four adjectives. To help
improve their vocabulary, allow each adjective to be used only once.
Have the students share their lists the next day.
