Lesson
Plan
A lesson plan is a teacher’s
daily guide for what students
need to learn, how it will be
taught, and how learning will be
measured.
Why Lesson Planning is important?
 Being clear on what you want to teach.
 Being ready to cope with whatever happens.
 It gives structure to teaching
 It serves as a reminder for a teacher when
they are distracted
 It suggest a level of professionalism and real
commitment.
How lesson planning is important for the
teacher and the learners?
For the teachers:
 They don’t have to think and react to events very
quickly.
 They don’t lose face in front of their learners
 they are clear on the procedure to follow
 They build on previous teaching and prepare for
coming lessons
For the learners:
• They realize that the teacher cares for their
learning.
• They attend a structured lesson: easier to absorb
and integrate.
• They appreciate teacher’s work as a model of
consistent work.
The 4 A’s Lesson Plan
The 4-A lesson plan model focuses on
four concepts.
• Activity
• Analysis
• Abstraction
• Application
- Activity
This will bring understanding to
what the learners already know and
clarity to what learners should
learn further.
- Analysis
A more in-depth understanding of the lesson, it
is another phase where the students will
process and classify what is valid and not. The
teacher on this part will ask further questions
and will also lead as a facilitator rather than
mere lecturing and sharing facts and ideas.
- Abstraction
The teacher on this part will now focus
entirely on the lesson being presented
and ask more lead questions to lead the
students in reinforcing what they know
and should know more.
- Application
The word itself describes the stage as
bringing the student to a more practical
way of using HOW are they going to
use what they have learned and
thinking of new ways on how it can be
improve further.
