Life On The Goldfeilds By Caitlin Andraos and Remzi Bektasovski
Housing Housing on the goldfields was tough. people basically had tents and the schools were in tents as well until later on and the schools became established and were permanet stone buildings.
Work Alluvial mining- is the type of mining when you pan in rivers lakes or creeks. you may find some speks of gold at the bottom of your pan.Shaft mining- is the more dangerous type of mining because it is underground mining. you may find nuggets of gold.
Dress The gold miners would wear at-shirt as we call it and a simple per of paints and the girls would have one dress for church on sunday.
Transport They transported to the goldfields by horse, carriges, cart or wagon, and some people are footslogers, that means they travel by foot. And did you know that children had to go to the goldfields strapped to a cart?
Food and Water FOOD- Damper is what most miners eat, its just flour mixed with water over a campfire. Mutton lasts for 8 days and is very exspensive. WATER- Miners drink tea alot because water has to be boiled to drink. Damper Mutton
Leisure Activities On the Goldfields kids played boredgames, marble games, hid and go seek and tip.
Education chilldren had an environmental education workshop in a tent, to be educated in the goldfields.Because their parents moved around a lot, looking for new and richer goldfields, children would have to change schools pretty often.
