  Unit 13 –Planning and Pitching a Print based Media Product - Proposal Format: Film, TV, Newspaper, Magazine, Book, Documentary – DELETE the option that is NOT yours! Provide a brief of what you are going to produce HERE and say why – e.g. “I am going to produce a new name of sub-genre music magazine in the form of a Front Cover and DPS (Double Page Spread) as part of a larger promotional project for ‘Name of Magazine’ magazine. Working Title: e.g. My working title is ‘Name of Magazine’ although this might change. This is part of the name of a band who could appear in the fanzine although it will not be all about them. YOU SHOULD also talk about the font style/format/colour this will be presented in. Genre: Explain what the sub-genre of music magazine it is and outline who the magazine will be aiming to compete with from the same sub-genre. Content:  Provide an overview of the content of the magazine itself based on your chosen sub genre of music magazine – for example: The name of sub-genre entitled ‘Name of Magazine’ magazine will be full of pictures, articles, album reviews, gig reports and song lyrics. The publication will also feature bands that are generally quite small and not mainstream. Most will be signed to small record labels or perhaps not signed at all.  YOU SHOULD use theory where possible such as the magazine containing ‘star appeal’ (Richard Dyer) for the readers. Style or Approach:  Explain how the magazine will be presented in terms of colour/font style and use of imagery on key pages such as the front cover.  Approach – HOW (software, technology) will you produce the magazine pages and what tools within the software will be useful to help construct each page and why? e.g. The denotation of the colour scheme for the magazine front cover will be…. The colour name of colour was chosen for name of convention because… The colour name of colour connotes…. I am going to use name of software to construct the magazine pages (Front Cover and DPS) because… Some of the tools in name of software that will be particularly beneficial in constructing name of the page will be….

  Unit 13 –Planning and Pitching a Print based Media Product - Proposal Audience:  Age  Gender  Socio-Economic Needs  Ethnicity  Stereotypes E.g. The audience is mostly male although there are still female fans. They are 14-25 in general although some might be older and a few younger. Music is a big part of their life and they will base most of their activities and their style around this music. Length:  How many pages will the magazine be in length (Key: The frequency of the magazines release will dictate this a lot)  What will the size of the magazine be (A3, A4) and why I intend to make 16 pages including the front and back cover. It will be A4 in size. Frequency: Monthly? Weekly? Fortnightly? Why? Cost?
