Planning and preparation
 I looked at a lot of music magazines’ mainly hip hop and rap
magazines because of my theme. The magazines I looked at for
example were; the source, XXL mag and NME. Most of my ideas came
from the source because it seemed to match my ideas and what I
wanted my magazine to look like. My aim was to make my magazine
formal yet urban and was aimed at 18-24 year olds.

      The
      magazine
      name is
      outstandin
      g because
      of the red
      colour I like the
                                     green font
                                     used in the
         The picture heading
         is powerful because
and is also it’s the first
         the first thing I see.
         thing I see
         for this
         magazine
         cover.
Magazine proposal
 I want to create and hip hop/urban theme kind of magazine. It
should be published every different season so its rare. It will
    cost £2.80 as well.
 The images I use will be very urban and ‘swaggish’.
 There are many magazines on the market that sell strictly hip-
hop magazines but I don’t believe there is UK hip hop
magazines so this will be the first.
 My aim for target audience is young adults aged 18-24 of any
ethnicity with urban social background but this magazine is
aimed at the male sex than the female sex because of the
    rappers mentioned.
 My magazine style is going to be a bit more ‘fly’ & gangster than
funny and quirky. Its going to be a modern hip-hop themed
magazine but it can also relate to a lot of young black adults in
    London.
 My magazine will be very parallel to the source with the font and
    the colours.
Front Page - Research
 I looked at many
    magazines but the one
    that stood out to me
the most had to be ‘the
    source’ because of the
    use of colours. The
    front cover is the first
thing you see so I took
    extra time on that
    section.
 I wanted my magazine
    to look the green
    edition of the source
so I made it the Spring
    Edition
My Front page
 My front cover
    looks exactly how
    I wanted it to. It
    follows the codes
    and conventions
    and the colours go
    wonderfully with
    the images.
 The font is nice as
    well as the actual
    magazine name
    ‘the chronic’ which
    is similar to ‘the
    source’
Contents page - Research
 I had a rough idea of
    how I wanted my
    contents page to look
    but this was very
    tricky indeed
    because I wasn’t
    really convinced my
    contents page would
    be as good as my
    front page. I looked
    to XXL magazine for
    contents page ideas.
My Contents
 I took a lot of time
    on my contents
    page and tried my
    best to make it look
    as good as it
    possibly could. this
    wasn’t easy but I
    believe I got to were
I want it to be. I
    used the pictures I
    took and it fitted in
    well with my
    magazine.
Double page spread - Research
 Most double page spreads I
    looked at had one half
    interview questions and the
other a big picture of the
    person you are interviewing.
This gave me ideas so I
    followed them rules and
    worked on making my
    magazine like that.
 The first picture I researched
    looked exactly how I’d want
    my double page spread to
look like, it has all the write
    colours and the perfect
    image.
 The second picture I
    researched probably isn't as
good as the first one but its
    still how I’d want my
    magazine double page
    spread to look like.
My Double page spread
 With my double page
    spread I used ideas from
    The source magazine
which helped me a lot. I
had to take a while to sort
    the picture out which was
the part of the double page
    because the image is the
    first thing people will see.
 I used green font with the
    DPS because of the
    magazine theme ‘green
    edition’. The colour stands
    out well with the white
    background as well.
 The black and white picture
    emphasis his authority in
    the picture and superiority.
My Photos
Public Feedback
I put together six questions and printed out copies of my magazine front
cover, contents and feature pages. The six questions were:
 1. Are you male or female?
 2. How old are you?
 3. What type of music do you listen to?
 4. How much would you pay for my magazine?
 5. What type of magazines do you buy/subscribe to?
 6. Would you buy my magazine – Yes/No? And why?

Here are my results:

 1. Male.
 2. 21.
 3. Hip hop & R’n’B
 4. £3.50.
 5. Regular buyer of XXL magazine
 6. ‘I would because it seems like my kind of magazine.’
