The Autobiography of Malcolm
              X
INTRODUCTION

1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE REPORT

Struggling for the equality is always inspiring people. There are some
people in the world that show their braveness to break the paradigm
of differences, slaveries, and discriminations. Malcolm X is the one of
so many black activists in the world that we can analyze as the
reference of our strive against inequality. Inequality here can be
described in so many aspects including religion, race, law and etc.
1.2 THE SCOPE OF THE REPORT

The writer of this report tries to scope the discussion starts from
the younger age of Malcolm until his assassination in 1965.
DISCUSSION
2.1 THE BIOGRAPHICAL SCATCH

Alex Haley is a writer from United States. He was
born at August 11, 1921 in Itacha, New York. His
most famous books are “Roots” and “The
Autobiography of Malcolm X” itself.

Alex Haley is a black American, he ever told that
the civil movement of African-American should be
appreciated, and tells to Malcolm X directly after
the interview that someday he will makes a book
about him. This autobiography later becomes the
best seller book in 20th century based on Time
magazine’s version, after that, Alex Haley becomes
the one of nationwide most inspired writer.
2.2 PHISICAL DESCRIPTION

Author : Alex Haley
Title : The Autobiography of
                 Malcolm X
Year : 2002
Publisher : Spark notes LLC
Page : 40 pages
2.3 THE SUMMARY OF THE BOOK

Based on the analysis of the book, the writer
divide the summary into three layers:
a) The younger age of Malcolm X
b) Malcolm X with Nation of Islam
c) Malcolm’s life after pilgrimage journey
2.4 The review of the book
a. The strengths
- The explanation is clear about the
  story, easy to follow.
- The language is always attracting the
  reader.

b. The weaknesses
- The font of this book is too small.
- The use of diction is also too high; it
only suits for people who have a
  good knowledge about the
  vocabulary.
2.5 Personal opinion

In my perspective, this book uses a strong
diction and high level of vocabulary; I think it
creates 2 things: it makes easy for all people
who want to know more about Malcolm X life
and enhance their English ability, but in other
side, for people who are not really good in
English can be confused and hard to digest the
story. The font of this book is sufficient to be read
by all people. The book does not have a
picture, so it could be bored by some people
who read.
CONCLUSION

This book can help us as the student to understand the
struggle of black American in 1960’s, precisely if we take
the study of American Culture and Society. This book helps
us also to know more about Malcolm X that his message of
equal right can be our motivation to spread his good
deed. The discrimination that happens in society should be
abolished by using the moral message of Malcolm X. this
book also can be our reference to understand what kind
of the policy that given by government of USA at that time
that implement a racial discrimination.
Thank you…..
