This document discusses how a student's media product uses conventions of real horror movies. It analyzes the opening scenes of three horror movies - The Ghost Ship, The Ring, and the student's own media product. The student incorporates several classical horror conventions in their film, such as using a dark isolated setting, vulnerable female protagonists, jump cuts, and sound to build tension. While drawing on these conventions, the student aims to also challenge real horror movie forms through their use of camerawork, characters, and narrative.
