Website Recommendations
Analysis of content
The Marjaree Mason Center (MMC) has a great website. The information on the
homepage is attention grabbing and seems to be full of relevant up-to-date
facts. The quick escape button is my favorite thing on the page because it takes
into consideration that some people looking for help might not want others to
know it and it gives them a fast and discrete way off the site.
Analysis of navigation/menus & submenus
When I was visiting the MMC submenus, I found navigating the pages very easy.
There is a menu tab on every page that gives you access to the rest of the
website. Good work!
Analysis of graphics/visuals
The MMC branding of the website is very well thought-out. The purple color and
logo are found on every page. The teal color that is used as contrast is also
consistent on every page. One thing that I would recommend would be the use
of multiple cohesive pictures throughout the site.
• The Marjaree’s Story page is a great example because the picture used in
the header and the pictures used on the page are cohesive with the
information on the page. This idea needs to be used on all the other
pages. An example of this can be the contact us page, although the
current picture of the boy is heartwarming, it doesn’t make as much sense
as a picture of someone on the phone, or someone talking or visiting the
center.
• Another recommendation would be to add pictures to the MMC Directors
and the Board of Director page. The pictures of Marjaree on her page
really personalize the site, having photos of the directors and the board of
directors page would add another personal touch to the page.
Analysis of usefulness
The website if very useful. It shows all the different programs and methods of help
that MMC offers their clients. Another thing the MMC website does well is
Angel	Ramirez
providing access to their emergency hotline and the Nation Victim Notification
Center.
The website makes donating very easy. It is listed on the main page as well as on
the menu tab. Signing up for the newsletter is also very clear as the link to register
is displayed on every page.
Analysis of content
The content is great and informative. None of the pages are text heavy because
of the use of drop down menus and tabs. It shows that a lot of thought was put
into the layout to make readability and usability very friendly.
Analysis of likelihood of repeat visits
Although the website is very informative and useful, there currently isn’t much
that would draw me back to the website.
• Something that might help draw the audience back onto the site could
be a calendar of events. This would be updated as new events or classes
were being offered, therefore as a community member or client I would
come back to see what new things are coming up.
• An anonymous storyboard might also be something to draw an audience
to the website. Personal stories are always very touching. The storyboard
could be a place where clients, and friends and family of clients can
share their story with the community. This gives the community a chance
to come and show support and read about the effects domestic violence
can have on people. I recommend it be anonymous because some
people might not feel comfortable sharing their story.
Final recommendations
Staff page. I know there are a lot of people involved with the MMC, but a staff
page will help make the MMC more personable. It will also serve to show the
staff that they are important to the mission of the MMC.
