Who would be the audience for
your media product?
Who are the target audience? habits/lifestyle/media
consumption (not just/age/gender/skin colour)
What pre- production research did you conduct with
them?
(Questionnaires, Result Graphs, Audience Profile)
How did you use it? (Pretend that the film you
developed was in response to the target audience profile
you developed in your treatment)
Who are the target audience?
• The target audience for our film is age 15 up. We
chose this target audience as we thought people
around that age are teenagers and will often watch
scary and thriller films with the friends. However we
chose the certificate 15 as the film does have
swearing in it and scenes of violence and therefore
any younger children may find certain scenes
disturbing. The gender of the target audience for our
film could be male or female however due to the
strong female characters throughout the film, I
think females may be more likely to watch the film
as it portrays friendships just like women friendship
groups do.

What pre- production research did you
conduct with them?
• The preproduction research which we did was a video
questionnaire. For this after we had chosen our film storyline
we went round and asked a variety of people who matched our
target audience questionnaires on our film and what they
think we should use, for example; sound, where the location
should be and also what age they thought the target audience
should be after had told them the storyline.
• The feedback which we got back was very positive and the
majority matched our ideas, so therefore this made us use
these in our film so that we knew what the target audience
would want from a thriller film.

how we were going to plan our film and the locations
which they suggested we researched to see whether they
would suit our storyline, many suggested woods as they
are dark and add tension to a film. Therefore we used
their suggestions and adapted them to our film, so we
were showing that their suggestions benefited us.
