How do these
marketing methods
relate to the Target
 Audience of Harry
      Potter?
• Merchandising
People tend to buy merchandise for memorabilia, as
collectibles or just for personal fun. They would buy it if they
really enjoyed the Harry Potter movies. Younger children may
have items such as props, novelty gifts or toys bought for
them as they can almost re-enact and feel part of the Harry
  Potter movie with their goods.

Harry Potter Iphone cases, t-shirts, hoodies and DVDs are all
items that would appeal to your everyday teenager. This is
because, teenagers are always with their phones, like to wear
t-shirts and hoodies, and are glued to the television, meaning
they would be inclined to buy this type of merchandise if they
  enjoyed the movie.
• Broadcasting
Broadcasting is an efficient method of marketing for the
target audience of 11 yr olds + because as young socialising
youths, sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are
commonly used. By posting and advertising Harry Potter on
these websites, means that teenagers will notice it and may
even begin to take an interest in it.

Also, everybody watches TV. So by creating an advert that
promotes the movie being released in cinemas, will reach a
wide range of people, including the main target audience.
• Advertising
Harry Potter advertisements are shown on billboards, in the
underground and also frequently on bus panels. This is
because they know that teenagers and families are likely to
see it while they are out. Teenagers may notice it while
catching a bus and families may notice adverts on billboards
  as they are drive by.

They would also try to place these adverts in or around areas
that would be common for their target audience to be found.
E.g. You may find a harry potter advertisement in shopping
centres or arcades because this is where you may find
  teenagers.
• Promos
Promos included things such as meet and greets and also
articles/interviews in magazines. By holding meet and greets,
it gives fans/the target audience the opportunity to the meet
the Harry Potter cast in person and would therefore be an
exciting experience for them which would make them even
  more of a fan.

Meeting your favourite character in person would probably
mean more to a teenager or young children then it would to
an older adult in their 50’s.
