INTRODUCTION
• Road accidents has been a major problem as the vehicle
compactness on the road increased dramatically due to
the growth of population and the improvement in living
standard.
• Road accidents mainly occur due to carelessness, fast
driving, drunken driving etc.
• In this project a system is implemented which reduces the
accidents to an extent.
• An ultrasonic sensor is used, which detects the obstacles in
its path and providing the nearness to the obstacle.
Future Scope
• Steering wheel , the only control to vehicle.
• Automatic acceleration & deceleration.
• Proximity detection as anti-collision system in trains.
EXISTING SYSTEM
Conventional types of automobile braking techniques:
• Drum braking
• Hybrid braking
• Electromagnetic braking
• Anti brake locking system(ABS)
PROPOSED SYSTEM
• Micro-controller based Automatic braking system.
• Employs an ultrasonic sound sensor.
• Atmega328A-PU on Arduino Uno development kit used.
• DC motor rotation represents motion of the vehicle, LEDs
denote the brake light.
DRAWBACKS OF EXISTING SYSTEM
• Depends on human responsiveness.
• Negligence can lead to accident.
• Does not ensure total security.
ADVANTAGES OF PROPOSED SYSTEM
• Low cost.
• Easy to implement.
• Excellent response to obstacles.
• Driving becomes easier.
FRONT END
• Ultra sensor Model:HCSR04 interfaced with Arduino.
• The sensor is placed on the bumper of the vehicle.
BACK END
• ATMEGA328A-PU MICRO-CONTROLLER
• LED-Light Emitting Diode; a p-n junction
diode emitting light.
• DC Motor; which works
on the attracting and
repelling property of
magnets. Dual shafted motor used.

FUTURE ENHANCEMENTS
• Driver Alcohol Detection System based on breath analysis
named Alcohol Sensor MQ-3 can be integrated with this
system to detect presence of ethanol in the air.
• Driver Drowsiness Detection System based on the eye-blink
detection can be integrated with the existing system to
detect drowsiness of the driver.
