Cataract is the opacification of the natural lens in the eye that can disturb vision. Modern cataract surgery aims to remove the cataract through small incisions using various techniques like phacoemulsification while implanting an intraocular lens (IOL) to replace the natural lens. IOLs are made of materials like acrylic and silicone and can be monofocal, multifocal, or toric to correct vision and astigmatism with the goal of minimal surgery and fastest recovery of quality vision.
