The author argues that more gun legislation is needed based on three articles. The first article shows a decline in crime from 1993 to 2001 due to increased gun laws. However, more recent mass shootings like in Colorado prove that was not enough. The Colorado shooting killed 12 and injured 58 people. The second article discusses an accidental shooting of a child who rang the wrong doorbell and was shot by a homeowner who thought they were intruders. The third article found no protective benefit to owning a gun and that incidents could be prevented with stricter gun laws to reduce gun crimes, deaths, and accidental shootings so people feel safer.
