GENERATION
Select a song/track that you like [or don’t like!]
Generate three ideas for music videos employing styles,
techniques and conventions that we have looked at in
previous sessions. Explore how you could interpret the
song differently using different methods
You can add any extra info you think is relevant, images,
mind maps, etc

-Animations( a different style maybe even scribbles to
show stronger emotion)
-Multiple cuts in the same area, showing the different
angles, hitting a different lighting representing the lyrics
in a different way.

RESEARCH
Watch a selection of videos to get your ideas started,

DAFT PUNK- ONE MORE TIME
Camera- Mostly wide angles and slow cuts, mainly
rotations of the band as they preform on stage. Not
many CUs. Cuts become quicker in time with the music.
Editing- Made to look like a 90’s TV show, old sort of
pixelated. Many crossfades added overlooking each
individual in the band. Made to look funky and upbeat to
the music making everything more light hearted which
brings out the message of having fun one more time.
Performance-All on stage preforming together in a
massive dome on a different planet, their music was that
good it reached others in the universe and people tried
to get them in the end. Everyone having a good time.
Art Style-Again using the cartoony art style that is seen
in most of Daft Punk’s music videos. All made to seem
like a 90’s Japanese cartoon.

GORILLAZ- FEEL GOOD INC.
Camera- Predominant amount of Wide angles and CUs of
each of the people in the band, mainly focusing on the main
band member and how he is swaying around. Many quick
cuts. And a lot of wide shots circling the band itself.
Editing- A lot of effects used where The TVs are in place,
glitching and distortions making it look old. 3D effects are
also used in the video making a contrast between the band
characters and the surroundings making them stand out
more.
Performance- All doing their own park but still playing
together. All made to seem that they haven’t slept in days
after “feeling good”.
Art Style- Cartoony art style, it is the bands signature style
that represents them. Normally used in all their videos with
the occasional crossover of either video games or real life
and in this case real life but put behind a massive TV.

TWRP- STARLIGHT BRIGADE
Camera- Mostly consisted of Wide angles and rotations
around the singer. A few CUs coming up to the chorus of
the song.
Editing-A lot of editing and effects. Lighting would have
been constantly different for every scene of the
animation, darker tones when in the ship and in the
darkness Making it seem like the character was losing
hope, bringing out the meaning of the lyrics. The lighting
looks more upbeat when its shown that all the characters
had won and showing that everything is more upbeat.
Performance- Main character goes off to space in hope
of finding a way to bring back the stars in this
abandoned ship
Art style- Cartoony art style (Intertextuality) mainly in the

PRODIGY- OUT OF SPACE
Camera- Again a lot of CUs and quick cuts. Camera was
also handled a few times as well like holding from a
perspective or like a vlog. Films a long time ago so the
quality may look bad but it actually makes the music
video even better that way.
Editing- A lot of fade ins, ostriches and inverted
transitions. Overlays and explosion effects.
Performance- All being themselves and dancing funny,
they don’t really care how they are presented on camera.
Art Style- No art style just all real live footage of the
band having fun.

DAFT PUNK- GET LUCKY
Camera- Mostly CUs of the band playing. A few wide
angles and MCUs.
Editing- Edited so their clothes seem shiny and stand out
together and it makes them look more trendy. A bright
tone on all of the people to contrast against the black
back drop behind them.
Performance-All playing in a dark room with only light
shining on them, they sway and bounce around to the
beat of the music making it seem more upbeat and
happy which represents the lyrics as a positive message,
for this instance getting lucky and not giving up/losing
hope.
Art Style-All normal wearing blingy suits. Daft punk
themselves wearing their techno masks drumming on a

POTENTIAL TECHNIQUES
- Using the lighting to emphasize the lighter and darker
tones of the song and lyrics in the song.
MCU and CU’s can create different moods depending on
the angle that is held.

CONVENTIONS YOU PLAN TO
USE
The song I will be doing is Emo rap/Lo-fi Hop So if I use
my bedroom and outside surroundings between each
part where the song changes, It will create two stories
that eventually link together. Using LED lights in the
bedroom to change the lighting and create different
moods. For outside I can use the natural lighting and
crate a different atmosphere.
I will use more depressive imagery throughout the Emo
rap parts of the song to convey the lyrics representation,
making all the words stand out to create a message with
the help of different poses and body language, keeping
in mind of boundaries.

Corpse: In 2015, Corpse began his career on YouTube by narrating horror stories on his channel, which
he did consecutively until 2020. He made his musical debut in 2016, being featured on the single "Grim
Grinning Ghost" by The Living Tombstone and Crusher P. On June 2020 he released the single "E-Girls
Are Ruining My Life!", featuring vocals from rapper Savage Ga$p, which generated major wide-spread
commercial success for Corpse in 2020. The song charted at 28 in Bulgaria, 90 on the UK Singles Chart,
and 24 in Billboard's Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart. It also reached more than 100 million streams
on Spotify and was ranked second on Spotify's Viral 50 songs chart.
Lily: Lily Ki, better known by her online alias LilyPichu, is an American internet personality, musician and
voice actress. Ki first gained popularity in 2011 when her parody song "I'll Quit LoL" went viral on
YouTube. In July 2017, a video of Ki playing the melodica to unsuspecting cosplayers at Indy PopCon also
went viral, becoming her most viewed YouTube video to date.

FINAL IDEA – TRACK
SUMMARY
Summary/analysis of track [consider meaning, content,
duration, pace and style of the song]
I'm going to be doing Slower cuts and slow-motion shots
for the Lo-Fi Hop scenes making like time has stopped
almost, bringing out the meaning of the lyrics about
being in a dream and for the Emo Rap parts it will be
faster paced and have quicker cuts to give the full
representation of the lyrics.
The Emo Rap parts will consist in the bedroom while the
Lo-Fi Hope will be shot outside around a later time for
the sunset. Both being a private area giving personal
space to film.

FINAL IDEA – YOUR IDEA
Your creative concept/video synopsis [describe your
interpretation, use of imagery or narrative, genre
conventions, etc.]
Going to create a contrasting video between two
completely different singers talking about Life and death,
making the softer artists parts warmer and more
welcoming but creating irony as their message speak of
being in a dream rather than alive then for the other
singer a colder atmosphere but again creating irony as
they speak of being alive instead despite all the bad
things that can happen. This will create the contrast and
the link up between the two singers' parts, especially as
their voices are completely different tones. For the Lo-Fi
it will be cast under a sunset but made to look like living
in a dream and for the Emo Rap it will be cast in a dark
atmosphere With lit up LEDs to contrast the bad words
said in the lyrics, giving a different representation than
what is shown itself.

Limitations and risks – Being in an open field might not be the best if
there is dog walkers walking along the same path. Best case then is to
find another open field that is welcome to people but where not many
people go.
Weather – the weather is unpredictable, so I don’t have much control
over it but must check the weather forecast on the days I plan to film to
check what the weather will be like.
Cost – Note sure but probably won’t be a lot

Unable to do it at home as laptop can’t have editing

My twin brother and my friend will be helping. No cost,
they will be fed, and no transport is needed.
They volunteered to help.

PROPS/COSTUME/ETC
I will be in my own clothes for parts and using my neon
kitsune mask and for other shots my friend will be
wearing all black clothing with a dark mask alongside
using the LED lights for the mood.

VISUALS
For Corpses parts of the song, I will create a darker
mood and use LEDs to Illuminate a silhouette. For Lily's
parts I will use light-hearted lighting to create a nicer
kind of dreamy mood and atmosphere to bring out the
sense of being in a dream.
LEDs will be used to create a colder atmosphere and
natural lighting will be for a warmer atmosphere which
will be the contrast between the two artists in the song.
Key moments will be around the choruses bringing out
the meaning of the two songs combined.
