Flexibility in

There will be no hard separation among
‘curricular’, ‘extracurricular’, or ‘co-curricular’,
among ‘arts’, ‘humanities’, and ‘science’, or
between ‘vocational’ or ‘ academic’ stream.

Role of Language
Home /Local language shall continue to be taught as
a language at secondary level if possible.
High Quality Textbooks will be available in
home/mother tongue.
Transaction between teacher and students will
remain the home /mother tongue wherever possible.
Teacher will be encouraged to use a bilingual
approach.
Teacher can use bilingual teaching learning material.

Role of Language
Three language formula will continue .
Flexibility in three language formula, no language
will be imposed on any state.
Students have option to learning at least two year
of Indian classical language.
Foreign languages such as Korean, Japanese,
Thai, French, German, Russian etc. will also be
offered at secondary level to learn about the
cultures of world.

Curriculum
Framework for
School Education
(NCFSE)
 Formulation of a new and comprehensive
National Curricular Framework for School
Education, NCFSE 2020-21, will be undertaken
by the NCERT - based on the principles of
National Education Policy 2020.
National textbooks with local content and flavour
shall be prepared.

Assessment of
Students
The assessment will be 360 degree
The primary purpose of assessment will be indeed
be for learning.
Progress card will be completely redesigned by
states/UT under guidance of proposed National
assessment center, NCERT, and SCERTs.
Boards exams for Grades 10 and 12 will be continue
but existing system shall be reformed.
Students will take two board exams during any
given school year, one main exam and one for
improvement, if desired.

Assessment of
Students
It is proposed to set up a National Assessment
Centre, PARAKH (Performance Assessment,
Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic
Development), as a standard-setting body under
MHRD that fulfils the basic objectives of setting
norms, standards, and guidelines for student
assessment and evaluation for all recognized school
boards of India.
