Network
Security
Network security covers multitude of technologies,

How does it
work?
Authentication and Authorization
Authentication checks and verifies that it is indeed the
user belonging to the network who is trying to access
or enter it, thereby preventing unauthorized intrusions.
Authorization is the level of access to be provided to
the recently authenticated user. The admin of the
network needs access to the entire network, whereas
those working within it probably need access to only
certain areas within the network.

Firewall
A firewall is a network security device that monitors
incoming and outgoing network traffic and permits or
blocks data packets based on a set of security rules. Its
purpose is to establish a barrier between the internal
network and incoming traffic from external sources in
order to block malicious traffic like viruses and
hackers.
