About TATA Motors
TATA MOTORS is an Indian multinational automotive manufacturing company established in
1945. it’s headquarter is in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It has operations in the UK, South Korea,
Thailand, Spain, Brazil and South Africa.
 It is the first Indian company from the engineering sector to be listed in the New York Stock
Exchange.
 On 30th December, 1998, TATA MOTORS launched first Indian made car “TATA Indica”.
 In 2018 they launched India’s first sports car Racemo.
 First truck which was launched by TATA motors bore Mercedes logo.
 In India it’s main auto manufacturing and assembly plants is in Jamshedpur, Lucknow and
Pune.

Organizational Structure
 The structure of an organization has to do with the organizational climate & progress of the firm. Tata
Motors used to have a Hierarchical Structure, but then the organization has understood the importance
of interactions between employers and workers as in Flat Structure. The process could be both formal
and informal and the objective is to make employees feel more bound to the organization., thus it
facilitates easy interaction between the different levels in the organization.
 Now, Tata Motors has rolled out a new organizational structure for its standalone entity, as new MD
Guenter Butscheck seeks to engineer a turnaround at the automaker through faster and effective
decision-making and sharper customer focus.
 The flat organization, which eliminates layers of middle management and is internally called
Organization Effectiveness, will empower business units with clear accountability and strengthen the
functional leadership.
 So, Presently TATA Motors is following Matrix Structure (Combination of Hierarchical & Flat structure). It
has gone live since January 1, 2017.
 “The future is ours to shape, and we need to gear up to be future-ready,” Butscheck said, while
communicating in an internal circular. He said the new structure could create some uncertainty, but help
in achieving its targets.

 Departmentalization - TATA motors follows Departmentalization Structure. In this structure a Particular
Job is grouped on the basis of work specialization & common tasks can be grouped and coordinated.

 CRM - A CRM system essentially provides a central place where businesses can store customer and
their prospect data, track customer interactions, and share this information with colleagues. It allows
businesses to manage relationships with customers, helping the business to grow.
Procedural Structure
 Chain of Command - In TATA Motors an unbroken line of authority extends from the top of the
organization to the lowest and clarifies who reports to whom.

launching many cars in a same segments such as – Compact SUVs, Sedan, Electric cars, Cute UTEs.
 Competitors are even paying huge emphasis on features (Wired Up infotainment, Cruise control etc.),
technology, pricing, after sales customer service.
 Now people want comfortable & safe cars, not worrying about economy of the car.
 So, now TATA also has to come with new segments, new models and competitive pricing to remain &
flourish in the market.
 It even has to change its organizational thinking, work culture & Policies to adjust to this new change and
increase its market share.
 Today, the Tata Motors group is present in over 175 countries with its headquarter in Mumbai. Tata
Motors has its R&D centers in India, UK and some other countries.
 Tata Motors has auto manufacturing and assembly plants in Jamshedpur and few other cities of India
like Lucknow, Pune and many more.
