 Risk Management Process
 Current documentation requirements
 Client Manual Handing Plans

 Why?
 WHS Act requirements
 Improve MH incident/injury rates in organisation
The obstacles
 1000 Line Managers
 Geographically located

 Demonstration of package
 Benefits of on line training for ADHC
 Difficulties with on line training for ADHC
 Measuring outcomes
Demonstration of the Package

Advantages of on line training
 Access for staff regardless of employment status, shifts
    worked and geographical location
 Convenient- allows workers to complete at time that
suits, doesn’t remove lots of people from the work floor
    simultaneously
 No need to wait until adequate numbers to run a course
 Consistency of training content
 Ease of updating content
 Ease of reporting
 Ease of maintaining a training data base
 Cost
Cost Comparison
 Cost comparison done
  between online training vs
  face-to-face training
 Cost of online training
  package= $38 703
 Cost of face-to-face training
  package=$64 877
 Saving of $26 174 or
    40%
$35,000

$30,000

$25,000 Development Cost
                                   (external)
$20,000 Salary of Staff
                                   Developing Package
$15,000 Travel Costs

$10,000
                                   Trainer Cost (90
                                   days)
 $5,000

    $0
          On Line Face-to-Face
Disadvantages of Online Training
 Some content not appropriate for on line training
 Difficult to find commercially available package that meets
the exact requirements of the organisation. Therefore
    have to custom build course
 Set up cost may be prohibitive
 Some employees may lack technological skills required.
 No face to face interaction, inability to get feedback on
    questions immediately
 Capability with organisations technology
Measuring Outcomes:
   Several inbuilt measures available including;
     – tracking participation per region etc
     – Collated on-line quiz results
     – Collated results from participants survey
 Pre and post numbers of referrals to the unit
 Pre and post numbers of CMHPs completed
 Sample survey in targeted region 3 months post
    completion
