The study compared the effectiveness of two reading intervention programs, Read 180 and Voyager Journeys III, on ninth-grade students in a South Texas urban school district. Results indicated that while students in Voyager Journeys III showed statistically significant gains in Scholastic Reading Inventory posttests, those in Read 180 scored higher on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) reading test. The findings suggest contrasting outcomes based on the assessment method, highlighting the complexity of evaluating reading interventions.
