What is peer pressure?
 Social influence to adopt a particular type of behavior,
dress or attitude in order to be accepted as a part of a
group of your equals (“peers”).
 Influence you feel from a person or group of people to do
something you might not otherwise consider doing.
Sides of peer pressure
What I think that peer pressure has two sides.
It may have
 Positive side
 Negative side
It depends how a teen get influenced .
The positive side
It can be hard for teens to resist peer
influence sometimes, especially in
heat moment but it can also have
a positive effect.
For eg:
 My friends are doing, I should also give it a try.
 Competition for good grades.
THE NEGATIVE SIDE
Extreme peer pressure may lead you to follow what
your peers feel right. Their pressure may compel you to
go by everything they think right
Affect of peer pressure
Peer pressure might influence you in a number of ways,
including:
 Fashion choices
 Alcohol and drug use
 Decision to have a boyfriend or girlfriend
 Choice of friends
 Academic performance
How to deal with negative
peer pressure
 Self-confidence, always reply.
 Be yourself, regardless of what others think.
 Hangout with people who feel the same way you do.
 Feel comfortable to say “NO”.
