Ian Chapman completed a personal skills audit to assess his abilities in digital technology, post-production, research and planning, and using conventions from real media texts. He learned skills like operating HD cameras, editing with Final Cut Pro and Garage Band, researching horror film openings, and analyzing slasher film conventions. These skills helped create his horror film opening sequence by allowing him to capture footage, edit together scenes and sounds, plan effectively according to genre conventions, and design ideas inspired by his research. To further develop these skills for his A2 project, Ian plans to experiment with a wider range of equipment, editing techniques, sound design, pre-production research analyzing music videos, and applying conventions of his chosen genre.
