INTRODUCTION:-
 PLASTIC IS :-
 A synthetic material made from a wide range of
organic polymers such as polyethylene, PVC,
nylon, etc., that can be moulded into shape while
soft, and then set into a rigid or slightly elastic
form.
TYPES OF PLASTIC:-
 Polyethylene terephthalate (PET or PETE)
 High-density polyethylene (HDPE)
 Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
 Low-density polyethylene (LDPE)
 Polypropylene (PP)
 Polystyrene (PS)
 Other types of plastic

ADVANTAGES OF PLASTIC:-
 Light
 Durable
 Transparent
 Versatile
 Odorless
 Non-conductive
 cheap
ON OCEANS
 Plastic pollutes beaches &oceans since
Garbage has been discarded into the
oceans .
 Since the 1940s, plastic use has
increased dramatically, and eventually
waste is deposited on beaches
worldwide.
On Marine life and Animals
 Plastic bags kill animals.
 About 100,000 animals such as dolphins, turtles
whales, penguins are killed every year due to plastic
bags.
 Many animals ingest plastic bags, mistaking them for
food, and therefore die.
 the ingested plastic bag remains intact even after the
death of the animal.
 Thus, it lies around in the landscape where another
victim may ingest it.
On Human Life
 Plastic pollutes from the initial stage of its
production.
 Chemicals of plastic are hazardous to human
health
 Some of the constituents known to cause cancer.
 Plastic resins themselves are flammable and have
contributed considerably to several accidents
worldwide.
Facts of plastic-
 Depletion of ozone:- due to toxins released when
plastic is burned
 Global warming:-plastic manufacturing industries
cause carbon pollution and there
results in global warming.
 Floods:- plastic bags can block storm drains
and eventually cause severe flooding.
 Infertility of soil:- Excess plastic waste in landfills
kills soil fertility: Eco experts
Reasons For Plastic Pollution In Our Community:-
 Industrial waste,E-waste
 Improper garbage system
 Irregularity of the Pvt. Garbage contractors.
 Ignorance of the people about the causes and
effects of the plastic pollution.
 Lack of proper knowledge about the plastic
pollution and its effects.
 Lack of social responsibility .
Latest Ways Used To Curb Plastic
Pollution:-
using wax-catterpillars:-
These Polythene-Eating Caterpillars May Help Curb Plastic
Pollution
Fuel from plastic:-
"Three hundred tones of plastic waste is generated in Chennai
per day. If this can be used ideally, a significant amount of high
quality crude oil can be generated, thereby solving the plastic
menace,"
On Going Revolutions On Plastic in
India:-
 Disposable Plastic Banned In Delhi NCR From
January 1: National Green Tribunal
 Plastic Banned Along Ganga From Gomukh To
Haridwar.
 A Unique Mission to Rid Badrinath From Growing
Plastic Menace.
 National Green Tribunal Bans Use of Plastic
Bottles in Haridwar.
 Now, Rs. 5,000 Fine for Burning Trash in Public
Spaces in Capital Region.
Our Responsibility:-
 The best solution is prevention.
 Proper management for disposal
 Creating public awareness would bring a great
difference in present situation.
 Overall reduction in plastic usage.
 Hand over plastics properly for recycling or disposal.
Design to change
 The two best ways we can do are:-
 1. use less plastics
 2.To reuse plastics when possible
