Pneumonia
Lobar pneumonia typically affects young and adult patients, is caused mostly by pneumococci, and affects one or more lobes of the lung with fibrinous inflammation that usually resolves. Lobular pneumonia affects patients of extreme ages, is caused by mixed organisms, presents as patchy basal lung involvement bilaterally with suppurative inflammation, and often leads to lysis and complications rather than resolution.
