INTRODUCTION
Teaching is a science as well as an art. Teaching commerce and making it
interesting for students is a challenging job for commerce teachers. Commerce subject is related
to all national/ international happening in economic, political, and social areas. So, a teacher
needs to connect her /his teaching to practical life. For teaching any subject effectively first of all
teacher should be clear about the general as well as specific objectives of each topic/concept
because this will only help the teacher in selecting the appropriate approach and method of
teaching according to the content. So for teaching commerce effectively teacher has to be
thorough with the objectives of teaching commerce at all levels. Effective teaching can be
possible only when the teacher can promote interest among the students. Education is one of the
greatest services provided by teachers. It is vital for anything. The role played by teachers
becomes a very important component and in fact, it can be said that they are in a way our
nation's builders. Teachers work in close coordination with students to help them in building up
their future. They mold the students to bring out their skills or improvise them, teaching good
habits/attitudes and helping them to become good citizens of the nation.

NEED AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
For teaching any subject effectively first of all teacher should be clear
about its general as well as specific objectives of each topic/concepts because this will only help
the teacher in selecting the appropriate approach and method of teaching according to the
content. So for teaching commerce effectively teacher has to be through with the objectives of
teaching commerce at all levels. Effective teaching can be possible only when the teacher is able
to promote interest among the students.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The study is entitled as “study on the changing role of commerce teacher".
OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
 To identify the role of commenced teacher
 To understand the importance of changing the role of teachers.
 To identify how the changing role of teachers affects the students.
 To identify how a commerce teacher become a mentor
METHODOLOGY
For the collection of data, secondary sources are adopted that is book, Review
method is mainly used for the Study. Date based on changing sole of the teacher is also collected
from the internet.

ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION
CHANGING ROLE OF COMMERCE TEACHER
1. Teacher as a mentor
Becoming a mentor teacher takes continuous effort. To avoid the loss of enthusiasm or
static practice, teachers need to focus on their professional development notably; the single most
significant indicator of student success is an excellent teacher: nevertheless, no one can be
professionally developed without his or her consent
2. Teacher as professional
A professional teaching qualification does not make one a professional. Belonging to a
particular profession does not automatically guarantee that the service you provide is a
professional one. Hence, teaching as a professional is a hard thing to do because it encompasses
many roles to be done well. He possesses the following qualities to become a true professional.
 Inspire the trust of your clients - the students and parents.
Create a good first impression from day one of the academic year. .
 Dress like a professional.
Teachers need to dress in clean clothes with no stains or odor whether they
teach in the gym, the shop, or the math classroom. Teachers should arrive at work, looking the
part, not dressed looking like their students.
 Always be on time for work.
A professional teacher understands the need to start the day well, every day. Truly
professional teachers will make sure that they arrive at least ten minutes before the first bell
rings, to prepare themselves mentally for the day ahead

 Be prepared.
Professional teachers plan thoroughly too for every lesson and class. They stick to
their work program and assessment schedule, to ensure that not only syllabus content is covered,
but also the necessary skills for their students' longer-term success in their specific subject or
learning area
 Follow procedures and the protocol expected at your school.
Professionals embrace the corporate identity and values and model these for the clients-in
this case, the children they teach.
 Take charge of your classroom.
Manage your students' behavior. A professional teacher will not keep running to
school management for assistance with classroom discipline
 Take pride in the process and product.
Make sure your notes and handouts are professionally presented.
 Treat your colleagues and supervisors with respect.
Model respect for authority for your students and gaining their respect will be
much easier for you. Be passionate, positive, and enthusiastic about your work. A professional
teacher will not create negativity in a staff room or engage in mindless gossip and the spreading
of dissent.
 Take an interest in every child.
The better you get to know your students, the more influence you will have on their
attitude towards your subject and on their lives in general.

3. Teacher as a scaffolder
Instructional scaffolding is a learning process designed to promote a deeper level of
learning. Scaffolding is the support given during the learning process which is tailored to the
needs of the student with the intention of helping the student achieves his/her learning goals.
4. A Teacher as facilitator
Teachers should develop a learning environment that is relevant to and reflective of their
students' social, cultural, and can make a big difference in the educational outcome of any child
linguistic experiences. They act as guides, mediators, consultants, Instructors, and advocates for
the students, helping to effectively connect their culturally and community-based knowledge to
the classroom learning experiences,
5. Teacher as a digital immigrant
A digital immigrant is an Individual who was born before the existence of digital
technology and adopted it to some extent later in life. We all know that digital natives are the
sectors who were born during or after the digital explosion. Because they have been interacting
with digital technology from the get-go, they have an innate understanding of its concepts,
6. Teacher as knowledge worker
The kind of teaching needed today requires teachers to be high-level knowledge workers
who constantly advance-their own professional knowledge as well as that of their profession. To
attract and develop knowledge workers, education systems need to transform the leadership and
work organization of their schools to an environment in which professional norms of
management complement bureaucratic and administrative forms of control, with the status, pay,
professional autonomy, and the high quality education that go with professional work, and with
effective systems of teacher evaluation, with differentiated career paths and career diversity for
teachers.

7. Teacher becoming a reflective practitioner
Reflective practice is a term strongly associated with learning in professional contexts
such as teaching, nursing or social work and can be thought of in a number of ways. It can be
described as a learning tool, something that is going to help you to synthesize, explain, make
sense of and ultimately learn from, your experiences. It can be considered to be a professional
competence, as reflected in the standards you are expected to achieve by the end of one's course.
8. Teacher as social engineer
The role of teacher in the society is both significant and valuable have far reaching
influence on the society he lives in and no other personality can have influence more profound
than that of teacher. Students are deeply affected by the teacher's love and affection, his
character, his competence, and his moral commitment. He should actively participate to the
social activities in positive way.
9. Teacher as Techno Pedagogue
A Techno Pedagogue is person who focuses on the user of technology and whose
expertise is electronic pedagogy methods and theory. A techno pedagogue is not a systems
administrator or network administrator like a technical person, who sits with your teachers and
helps them see the practical uses and appropriate uses of technology to attain their educational
goals.
10. Teacher as Consultant
A teacher has different roles to play in our present educational scenario. Teachers are
playing the role of a guide, philosopher, etc. The concept of teacher as a consultant developed in
western countries.

FINDINGS
 It was found that the changing role of the teacher are essential for the student
 it was found that, for the smooth running of a classroom, the teacher should change their
role time to time
 It was found that the changes of the teacher will positively affect the students to attain
their goals
 It was found that, teaching as a professional is a hard thing to do because it encompasses
many roles to be done well

CONCLUSION

Role of a teacher play an important role in fostering the intellectual and social development of
children during their formative years. The education that students acquire is a key to determining
the future of those students. Whether in elementary or high school or private or public schools,
teachers provide the tool and the environment for their students to develop into responsible
adults.
Like any other filed commerce stream is wider stream for the education.
Education is essential for every student. Large number of student’s choice the commerce fields
for education. A teacher has different roles to play in our present educational scenario. Teachers
are playing the role of guide, philosopher etc.
