  Blogger Used to collectinformation and research towards out final thriller opening. We were able to create and post our preliminary and 1 minute tasks which allowed us to work on our skills when using the camera’s and final cut pro to edit it. We were also able to collect information on things like film certificates which allowed for us to decide which age group our thriller opening would be appropriate for. We were also able to post research on other thrillers and we also compared thrillers to see which were more successful and why. Our blogs allowed for us to access all our research and information at anytime. We knew that it was stored and safe and we could always look back on it during the actual making of our thriller opening.

  DSLR cameras During preproduction we were given such tasks as the prelim and one minute film. This allowed for us to learn how the cameras worked. During these tasks we were also able to learn such things like setting the white balance and learning about the rule of 3rds. All this new information allowed for us to get better shots when filming. We also learnt the 180 degree rule and also how to use different angles to make a viewer feel on edge or to create suspicion. Through being able to have the cameras at such an early stage we were really able to get used to it and understand the different setting and how to zoom and focus which meant we were much more prepared when it came to actually creating our thriller opening.

  Mac computers Throughout thewhole process leading up to the final thriller opening we used Mac computers to produce all our work. The Mac computers were very helpful as we were able to use software's such as photo booth, audio recorder and final cut pro to edit videos. During pre production we were able to get used to the computers and to explore the different software's that could be useful to us in the later stages of production. In pre production we got a chance to actually edit our prelim and one minute film tasks. Again this allowed for us to learn new skills and allowed for us to become more confident when using the software.

  YouTube During our preproduction we used many different sites to either collect or present our research and information. One site we used was YouTube. Through this we learnt how to upload our own videos so that we could look back on them when creating our thriller opening. Through YouTube we were also able to watch other thriller openings to see what makes the best thriller, from this we collected information and took some ideas so that we could create a good thriller. YouTube also allowed for us to watch film interviews and director videos which gave us insight into the different stages of production and what element are important when creating a thriller e.g. music to build up suspense.

  Art of theTitles Another site which was used was Art of the Titles which allowed for us to search up different film openings. Through this site we were able to see which thriller were better than others and we were also able to pick out what we should think about when creating our thriller. This site also showed us that we can show our thriller within 9 frames which gives and insight to what the thriller opening consists of. After looking at films on this site we were able to have an idea of what we may of wanted our thriller to look like or a few ideas to our storyline.

  Storyboarding Before being ableto film our actual thriller opening we had to plan out what we wanted our storyline to be and what we actually wanted to film. The use of story boards really allowed for us to plan out our ideas so that we had a clear script to follow when filming instead of filming everything we thought looked good. The storyboard was also helpful in a sense that it was like the 9 frames of the art of the titles but in more detail. In addition when creating the storyboards as a group we all had to come together and bring all ideas to create one product so the use of mapping everything out in still frames really helped.
