Serial killers are often portrayed as antagonists in popular media, though some fictional serial killers have been depicted as anti-heroes in works such as Dexter and Psycho. Many popular fictional serial killers are actually based on real killers, for instance Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs combines traits of Ted Bundy and Ed Gein - Bundy would lure women to his car by pretending to be injured and then knock them out, while Gein murdered women and stole their bodies from graveyards in an attempt to create a "woman suit" resembling his mother.
