Moodboard – Logo Examples
Moodboard – Logo Examples
I have chosen two of the logos from the mood board on the previous
slide, these are the two I like the most and the ones which I will be
using as inspiration when I create my own logos which will be to
symbolise recycling.
From the top logo I will be using the arrows (which are placed around
the earth) but I will be recreating them, instead of the arrowheads; I
will be replacing them with hearts for my logo design. I will similarly be
placing the recreated symbols on top of a tree, my reasoning for this is
because it will help to make the tree and symbol; the main focus point.
I will also be using the bottom logo as inspiration because I like the two
tones of green. I like the idea of incorporating two tones of green in to
my logo and other creative pieces because it is relevant to the topic.
Green is generally used to represent positivity, recycling or even the
environment so I think that using green for my work would be more
than appropriate and well suited overall.
Moodboard – Colour Scheme
Moodboard – Colour Scheme
I began to think about colour schemes while looking at
other logos for inspiration. It was at this point that I
decided that I was going to go with a green colour
scheme due to the relevance and how well it suits the
topic.
I decided that I wanted to use different shades of
green (especially for the writing on the poster) so to
the left are 3 shade strips. I have decided that I am
going use the middle colours (on all 3 strips) to get a
nice contrast of colour.
I really like the idea of using a light, medium and dark
version of the same colour, although it isn’t much; it’s
something that I haven’t done before. I am aiming to
use the different shades of mainly on my poster, I will
be using the different shades to draw more attention
to some words on the poster than the others which I
think will work nicely. I think using three tones of
green will work better than if I was to use just one
solid colour, I don’t think that I would get the effect
that I am aiming for.
Moodboard – Text Styles
I did some searching on dafont.com to find text style which I felt would work well with
my recycling logo and the concept. From the start, I had already decided that I didn’t
want a very bold text or something that was going to stand out over the main part of the
poster (the logo) so I started searching for ‘light’ fonts and came across lots that I could
use within my project but it was difficult to decide between them all.
To the right of this slide is a list some of the fonts that I managed to narrow down from
the large selection of light fonts that I came across on the website. I think that before I
had narrowed down my selection that I hadn’t really thought about weather the font
would work for more of a formal creative piece; I think I thought more about what looks
good and what looks not so good. After takings the formality of the font into
consideration I narrowed this list down to ones named ‘Dolphin Sans’ and ‘Susanna’.
Choosing between these fonts (the bottom two on the right) was harder than I expected
because there was aspects of them both that I wanted to merge in to one font. For
example: I like the spacing of the Dolphin Sans font but preferred the shaping of the font
Susanna.
After testing out/sampling which font I would prefer most out of the two (using
Photoshop), I decided that the fonts were not what I had in mind and that it would be a
much better idea to head back to dafont.com to keep searching until I find a font that I
feel is more suited to my work and my initial ideas.
Moodboard – Text Styles
After sampling some fonts and not being as happy as I could be with how they looked for
my logo and my poster, I spent some time searching for one that I felt matched my
intended ideas. I came across the font named ‘Jonah’ and example of this font can be
found on the right of this slide.
I tried this font out using the three tones of green that I will be using to create the text
for my creative pieces and I discovered that it looked exactly how I was intending it to
look. My reason for this is because it is really clear, it’s light and I really like how the
letters are shaped. I also noticed that out of all of the fonts I had tried out, this was the
one that allows me to create the ‘three toned’ colour effect in a way that stands out and
in a way which actually makes it ‘effective’.
To the right is also a sample of how the text will look on my logo and poster, I’m happy
with the outcome and will be altering the middle colour slightly to pull off the three
tones of green a little bit more. I feel that the colour in the middle (‘Reuse’) should be
more of a light lime green, I think this will give the text a really good contrast.
Logo
Here is the final version of my logo to represent recycling. I didn't changed my mind
a lot while planning out this logo although there were so many possibilities for each
different potential aspect of the logo. I wanted to create something different;
something that is unique while sticking with my original intentions throughout the
creation process.
Firstly, within the final stages of planning this logo I decided that I wanted a tree as
the central point of the logo, my reason for this is because trees are relevant to
recycling; in as much as paper comes from trees and can certainly be recycled. Also,
trees (such as Christmas trees) can be recycled; this made me think that having a
tree in the centre of my logo wasn’t something that would be out of place or off the
topic. Secondly, I chose to use the typical symbol that the majority of people would
recognise as the ‘recycling symbol’ but alter it to give it a fresh, new look. I decided
to keep the structure of the symbol the same and to replace the arrowheads (which
can be seen on the end of each three parts of the symbol) with hearts instead. The
reason why I chose to replace the arrowheads is because I felt that using hearts
instead, helps to promote the positivity of supporting this topic in a slightly
insignificant way because while they may not stand out above all; they are soft on
the eyes and neatly noticeable.
Finally, the text. I did some research and found that ‘Reduce Reuse Recycle’ is
already a well known slogan. I felt that it was a good idea to keep this going because
it makes my logo much more recognisable, I also felt that using three different
colours to display this helps to make the text one of the main focus point for the
Poster
Here is the final version of my poster. My original intention was to create a poster
that appears to be pretty basic but with features on it that make the most important
parts to stand out so that they are easily memorable and recognisable for the
audience; I think that I have managed to do this.
Firstly, the font. I have used the same font for this as I have for the logo and I think
that it actually looks even better now that it has been increased in size, I think this
because the audience is now able the details in the font such as the curve on the ‘R’
and the colour difference between the three words (this was one of the most
important factors to me). Secondly, while I have kept the original slogan; I wanted to
add a little bit extra detail to this poster by creating my own slogan based around the
topic (I didn’t want to do this for the logo because I felt it was too much to add detail
for a smaller piece), which is ‘Let’s make a difference, let’s save the planet’. Similar to
the colour difference for the original slogan, I chose to make ‘let’s make a difference’
a darker grey so that it matches the colour scheme overall and so that it gives a
faded appearance. I then make the ‘Let’s save the planet’ part a bright white colour
to contrast against the text above while making it clear that it is an important part of
the poster.
Finally, I decided to put my logo on the poster. My reason for this is because I wanted
my logo to be recognisable with my poster and my merchandise, I thought that this
would be a good idea so that it can become a trusted campaign that people may like
to follow/join.
Merchandise
After completing my logo and poster I felt that it would be a good time to start creating
some merchandise, I created the merchandise for the recycling campaign using
redbubble.com. This website was extremely helpful and easy to use, the reason why it
was helpful is because there are so many blank products that can be altered to suit the
creators ideas.
I had a bit of trouble with choosing a background colour for each piece of merchandise
because, I wanted to make it look a little bit different compared to my logo and poster
but so that it still gives the same effect and so that it still stands out. The problem that I
had was getting most colours to suit the colours of my logo, for example I went for a
whites and greys and they made the tree look out of place or the colour of the hearts
hidden; which was not what I wanted. I decided to keep the pattern and make the
background colours: Black.
I think that if I was to alter my merchandise that I would carefully analyse the products
that are available and chose ones that are more suited to the topic. For example: instead
of creating pillows, it might have been a better idea to create notepads with the logo on
it to encourage people to possibly either recycle the notepad or the pages that they may
rip out of it. I think that is much more appropriate and suited. Also, an idea that I had for
this merchandise is that when a product is sold, a great percentage should go towards
supporting recycling companies such as ‘Recycle Now’. Overall, I am happy with the way
that the merchandise looks on the majority of the produce however, there are a few
things that I would alter in order to produce a better range of merchandise.
Bus Panel
Here is the bus panel to match the reset of the campaign adverts. I chose to
keep the black and green theme because I wanted to make my adverts this way
in order to create a form of trademark. Firstly, I think that the panel has been
presented clearly and in a way that is easy for the audience to understand. I
also think my version of a bus panel is appropriate because it can be read and
understood quickly.
I think that I originally liked the font size I chose but looking back at it now I
think that I could have made the slogan bigger. My second fault with this is the
font itself. I think that using a light font really worked well with the logo and the
poster because they are smaller adverts where as for the bus panel, it needs to
be made work on a larger scare and I think that using a bulkier font would have
worked much better.
Despite the faults I have picked out, I do like that way that all of the aspects
have been positioned. I think that they work well visually and also appears
nearly. I think that the colour scheme chosen for this could potentially contrast
against the colour of the bus, this means that the bus panel is more than likely
to stand out more and grab more attention which is positive.
Evaluation
Evaluation
I have completed my final pieces which consist of my logo, poster, merchandise and a bus panel. I faced a few faults along the way such as
colour scheme errors (parts looking out of place or not matching how they should) and features (such as fonts and shape sizes for the logo)
not looking how I intended them to look.
Firstly, I feel as though my logo matches exactly what I was intending to create, I think that it is fit for its intended purpose because it's
clear just looking at it what it is for / about. I think the tree is a clear indication of recycling because the majority of people associate trees
with paper and paper with recycling. I also think that the symbol on the logo helps a lot to make it fit for purpose because it is a symbol
which is widely recognisable by most. I think that the tree, the symbol, the colour (green) and the text combined together communicates
the message really clearly. The main slogan is 'Reduce Reuse Recycle' becomes a more powerful statement with the logo because we can
reduce the amount of trees cut down by recycling and we can reuse paper by recycling so I think this all makes sense and communicates
the point to the audience correctly; In a way which is appropriate for all ages (which is my target audience).
I couldn’t really compare and contrast my original intentions because I have stuck with my original intentions throughout, I feel as though I
have justified this within the slide named 'Logo'. I think that while the techniques I have used for my logo are basic, I find them effective
and most importantly; straight to the point. I wanted to ensure that all aspects of my logo are effective, maybe even effective enough to
persuade those that don't recycle; to give it a go. I think that the impact that my logo will have on the public is that it will be memorable,
this is one of the most important factors because if it is memorable then other part of the campaign that get published (such as posters
and merchandise) will be easily recognisable, this can also help the campaign to become a trusted campaign which is also important. I
think that one technical quality of my logo is that it has a relevant colour scheme (green is relevant to recycling because a lot of people
associate the colour with the environment or recycling), with light but visible text that has been nicely spaced out to create effect. One
aesthetic quality is the three tones of green, not only does this add to effect but it is warm and nice on the eyes.
Evaluation
Secondly, I feel that my poster is fit for its purpose because it portrays the same message as my logo but with an added slogan. I wanted all
of my pieces to share recognisable similarities without being the exact same. For example, for my poster I have kept the same colour
scheme and font (and added the logo) but I have decided to add little extra details that really add to it such as the spacing. I have spaced
out each different aspect nicely so that I can have an evenly spaced out poster, this enhances the overall look of the poster. Another extra
detail is the second slogan which is 'Let's make a difference, Let’s save the planet’. I wanted the logo to contain less of this type of
detail/impact and for it to be more of a simple piece, whereas I wanted the poster to contain and project more of a persuasive effect by f
uhbgnnputting more information within it. I think that the extra slogan makes the poster for me, because it's relevant and also helps to
powerfully communicate the message. I definitely find my poster appropriate for all audiences, the text used on all of my finished pieces
has been kept simple, it is easily read and easily understandable to keep it appropriate for all ages.
My original intention for the poster was to make it completely different compared to the logo, I had planned to go with the a brighter
colour scheme and more of a rounded and thicker font to draw the public’s attention. I changed my mind on this when I decided that I
wanted it to be obvious that all of my pieces are part of the same campaign, I also decided that they way I was going to create a recognition
between my pieces would be to keep similar features as the others. The poster is definitely effective but i feel that there could be some
changes within the features to make the poster look better which would inevitably make it more effective overall, such as a thicker font
with the same the same colours (three types of green) but to improve this feature I would make the colours brighter. I think that the impact
this poster will have on the audience is that it may make them think about recycle and how it can make a difference to the planet, this
matches the intention which is to try and encourage as many more people as possible to want to recycle regularly.
One technical aspect of the poster is the colour white used for the second slogan, this has been used to contrast against most of the other
features on the poster; capturing a lot more attention and creating a naturally bold effect. One aesthetic quality is the positioning of all of
the aspects in order to create a nice amount of focus points for the audience.
Evaluation
Thirdly, the merchandise. I found this part of the project the easiest due to already having a clear plan and also down to good resources
which helped me out (redbubble.com). I choose a range of different items available on Red Bubble (ranging from t-shirts to clocks) and
customised them with the use of my logo, I had already planned for this to happen after finishing my logo. My reason for choosing to
customise the merchandise with the logo was because I thought this would be the best way to make my campaign a recognisable and
trusted campaign. I think that most merchandise is fit for purpose such as the t-shirts, cups and pillows, but as for the clock, trousers and
skirts; I don’t think that these match my campaign very well (I felt that my logo looked a bit odd on this products in particular. One think
which could have made my merchandise more fit for purpose is if I made notepads, this would mean the front cover contain my logo and
the words ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ which I think is very relevant to the campaign because the actions within the slogan can actually be
done with paper (in other words paper can be reused, recycled and it can also be reduced in regards to wastage because we can reduce
the amount of paper which is discarded instead of recycled. I think that my merchandise communicates my message clear enough but
could get my message communicated more efficiently if I had acted on my notepad merchandise idea (as explained previously within this
slide).
I think that my merchandise is appropriate for any target audience considering it doesn’t contain anything inappropriate whatsoever and
due to only having one planned idea for merchandise I can not compare and contrast my alternative ideas for this aspect of the project. I
think that most of the products are effective because they are items that people can purchase in support of the campaign which could
potentially help to promote the campaign (for example if one person was to buy a t-shirt and wear it, it could possibly grab the attention of
other people, which could encourage other people to do the same or maybe even find other ways to become part of the campaign.
One technical quality of my merchandise is that it has all been made to match my logo, such as the colour of the shirts and so on. I would
say that an aesthetic quality would be the way which the logo stands out on the products but also the way that it looks natural on items of
clothing (meaning that they can be worn on many casual occasions.
Evaluation
Finally, the bus panel. One of my intentions for this project was to keep the main features (including font, colours and so on) of the
separate parts of the project (such as the logo, poster, merchandise etc.) similar and I feel that this advert in particular for the
campaign is a good example of what I had intended. I think that the bus panel is definitely fit for purpose because it’s bold and it’s
straight to the point. I knew that I had to create something short and that can be quickly read and understood easily. For example
if the panel had lots of detailed information on it to be read by the public, they probably would not be able to read and
understand it properly if the bus was moving. Whereas if the text/ information on the bus panel is kept short yet understandable
then this does its job correctly. I think that the message that this panel gives is communicated clearly to the public and is also
appropriate to all audiences just like all of the other advertisements for this campaign.
I think that the techniques I have used are effective. I think this because they can be persuasive to some which helps the
campaign. If people are persuaded to think about the three words on the bus panel, this could potentially make people want to
find out more about the campaign and want to join; which is that whole point of the campaign. I personally think impact that the
bus panel will have on the public is that it might remind people to recycle or it could go completely unnoticed. I would say that
one technical quality of this bus banner is that font size for the slogan used has been enlarged and the colours used to highlight
each word have been brightened in order to stand out more. I think that an aesthetic quality of the bus panel is that the bright
green gives a positive warmth to the words and that it also has been made so that the audience would naturally notice/engage
with the slogan from further away.

I think that while the techniques I have used for my logo are basic, I find them effective and most importantly; straight to the point. I wanted to ensure that all aspects of my logo are effective, maybe even effective enough to persuade those that don't recycle; to give it a go. I think that the impact that my logo will have on the public is that it will be memorable, this is one of the most important factors because if it is memorable then other part of the campaign that get published (such as posters and merchandise) will be easily recognisable, this can also help the campaign to become a trusted campaign which is also important. I think that one technical quality of my logo is that it has a relevant colour scheme (green is relevant to recycling because a lot of people associate the colour with the environment or recycling), with light but visible text that has been nicely spaced out to create effect. One aesthetic quality is the three tones of green, not only does this add to effect but it is warm and nice on the eyes.

Evaluation Secondly, I feelthat my poster is fit for its purpose because it portrays the same message as my logo but with an added slogan. I wanted all of my pieces to share recognisable similarities without being the exact same. For example, for my poster I have kept the same colour scheme and font (and added the logo) but I have decided to add little extra details that really add to it such as the spacing. I have spaced out each different aspect nicely so that I can have an evenly spaced out poster, this enhances the overall look of the poster. Another extra detail is the second slogan which is 'Let's make a difference, Let’s save the planet’. I wanted the logo to contain less of this type of detail/impact and for it to be more of a simple piece, whereas I wanted the poster to contain and project more of a persuasive effect by f uhbgnnputting more information within it. I think that the extra slogan makes the poster for me, because it's relevant and also helps to powerfully communicate the message. I definitely find my poster appropriate for all audiences, the text used on all of my finished pieces has been kept simple, it is easily read and easily understandable to keep it appropriate for all ages. My original intention for the poster was to make it completely different compared to the logo, I had planned to go with the a brighter colour scheme and more of a rounded and thicker font to draw the public’s attention. I changed my mind on this when I decided that I wanted it to be obvious that all of my pieces are part of the same campaign, I also decided that they way I was going to create a recognition between my pieces would be to keep similar features as the others. The poster is definitely effective but i feel that there could be some changes within the features to make the poster look better which would inevitably make it more effective overall, such as a thicker font with the same the same colours (three types of green) but to improve this feature I would make the colours brighter. I think that the impact this poster will have on the audience is that it may make them think about recycle and how it can make a difference to the planet, this matches the intention which is to try and encourage as many more people as possible to want to recycle regularly. One technical aspect of the poster is the colour white used for the second slogan, this has been used to contrast against most of the other features on the poster; capturing a lot more attention and creating a naturally bold effect. One aesthetic quality is the positioning of all of the aspects in order to create a nice amount of focus points for the audience.

Evaluation Thirdly, the merchandise.I found this part of the project the easiest due to already having a clear plan and also down to good resources which helped me out (redbubble.com). I choose a range of different items available on Red Bubble (ranging from t-shirts to clocks) and customised them with the use of my logo, I had already planned for this to happen after finishing my logo. My reason for choosing to customise the merchandise with the logo was because I thought this would be the best way to make my campaign a recognisable and trusted campaign. I think that most merchandise is fit for purpose such as the t-shirts, cups and pillows, but as for the clock, trousers and skirts; I don’t think that these match my campaign very well (I felt that my logo looked a bit odd on this products in particular. One think which could have made my merchandise more fit for purpose is if I made notepads, this would mean the front cover contain my logo and the words ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ which I think is very relevant to the campaign because the actions within the slogan can actually be done with paper (in other words paper can be reused, recycled and it can also be reduced in regards to wastage because we can reduce the amount of paper which is discarded instead of recycled. I think that my merchandise communicates my message clear enough but could get my message communicated more efficiently if I had acted on my notepad merchandise idea (as explained previously within this slide). I think that my merchandise is appropriate for any target audience considering it doesn’t contain anything inappropriate whatsoever and due to only having one planned idea for merchandise I can not compare and contrast my alternative ideas for this aspect of the project. I think that most of the products are effective because they are items that people can purchase in support of the campaign which could potentially help to promote the campaign (for example if one person was to buy a t-shirt and wear it, it could possibly grab the attention of other people, which could encourage other people to do the same or maybe even find other ways to become part of the campaign. One technical quality of my merchandise is that it has all been made to match my logo, such as the colour of the shirts and so on. I would say that an aesthetic quality would be the way which the logo stands out on the products but also the way that it looks natural on items of clothing (meaning that they can be worn on many casual occasions.

Evaluation Finally, the buspanel. One of my intentions for this project was to keep the main features (including font, colours and so on) of the separate parts of the project (such as the logo, poster, merchandise etc.) similar and I feel that this advert in particular for the campaign is a good example of what I had intended. I think that the bus panel is definitely fit for purpose because it’s bold and it’s straight to the point. I knew that I had to create something short and that can be quickly read and understood easily. For example if the panel had lots of detailed information on it to be read by the public, they probably would not be able to read and understand it properly if the bus was moving. Whereas if the text/ information on the bus panel is kept short yet understandable then this does its job correctly. I think that the message that this panel gives is communicated clearly to the public and is also appropriate to all audiences just like all of the other advertisements for this campaign. I think that the techniques I have used are effective. I think this because they can be persuasive to some which helps the campaign. If people are persuaded to think about the three words on the bus panel, this could potentially make people want to find out more about the campaign and want to join; which is that whole point of the campaign. I personally think impact that the bus panel will have on the public is that it might remind people to recycle or it could go completely unnoticed. I would say that one technical quality of this bus banner is that font size for the slogan used has been enlarged and the colours used to highlight each word have been brightened in order to stand out more. I think that an aesthetic quality of the bus panel is that the bright green gives a positive warmth to the words and that it also has been made so that the audience would naturally notice/engage with the slogan from further away.
