  HAYDON MEDIA Proposal Producer(s): Lauren Wilson Production Title: Music Video Brief: To create a music video using a song of our choice. We must research and plan it ourselves, and then film and edit it. We must follow the conventions of the genre we have chosen, for example indie or rock. We must also explain the entire process in the evaluation task. Aim: I want to create an imaginative music video, which will fit well with the song I have chosen. I would like to have an interesting and engaging music video that would attract my target audience. Description of your intentions: I will be making an indie/rock music video, and I would like it to have a strong and creative narrative, as this would be appropriate for the genre I have chosen. This genre will give me lots of freedom and independence to create a story within the music video, using the song to emphasise this. At this time in the process, I know that I will not want to use a green screen or special effects, and I will most likely want mainly narrative in the music video rather than a performance aspect. This would also work well in terms of the conventions of the indie/rock genre. I would also like to use some key props to make the video very interesting and unique. Target Audience: My target audience will be very wide, due to the genre I have chosen – indie/rock. They will be in the younger demographic, mainly being students and young adults. My aim is for the audience to enjoy and engage in what is happening in the video, as I hope it will be realistic in terms of what they would expect from a video in this genre. Similar Products: There are several other artists’ videos that have been inspiring me in this process of conceptualizing ideas for my music video. These include Coldplay’s ‘Paradise’, and Jason Mraz’s ‘I won’t Give Up’. I think I will end up using a song from a band or male artist, as I have found several I am considering using and also because my actor will most likely not be miming the lyrics of the song. Production Details: I will plan the production day in a large amount of detail, in order to be prepared for anything or any risks that may occur. This will help me manage my time effectively on the days of shooting. I will be using a Canon 550 DSLR, tripod and steady cam and possibly a fisheye lens to film my music video in the location I will choose.
