Blogging


During this project I had
my first experience with
blogging and I feel that
we as a group did well
in blogging but I ended
up not being the one to
post a lot since I was
usually focused on
equipment filming and
editing including titles.
However here is a
screenshot of an
example of one of my
individual blogs.
Equipment
 When

shooting for the first time we used a
canon 60D camera and a sigma lens
DC which was optimised for low light
conditions as well as macro shots,
however the camera fell of the tripod
during filming cracking the display and
completely breaking the lens so this
left us in a difficult situation as we had
nearly filmed all our shots.
lighting
 We

also used a selection of lighting to
create our scene including two soft boxes
a industrial light, a light reflector a corner
lamp and several candles the last two
were left in shot while the rest of the
lighting was kept off screen
When setting up the lighting
we would experiment with
placing the lights in different
areas to see the effect on
the set. Once we had set the
lights up I had to adjust the
camera to desired setting so
the focus was correct for
each shot. The 1st shot shows
what happens when the
camera is adjusted correctly
and all lights were on and in
the correct places while the
reflector was in place; in
contrast the 2nd image shows
what the outcome was with
the soft box off and the
reflector not in place and
both the ISO and exposure
not correctly adjusted.
Using the camera
I

was using both cameras most of the time
and therefore was the one who had to
get the right lighting effects, I would do
this by changing the exposure, ISO, the
aperture and shutter speed to get a
desired effect. I was also the one to set up
most of the lighting including the soft
boxes as this was mostly my equipment as
was the first camera and lens.
Difficulties
 We

then had to do two more shoots to
get the necessary footage as our actress
couldn’t turn up to our second shoot. For
these shots we had to use a different
camera as the first one was being put in
for repair. We ended up getting the shots
we could on shoot 2 and finally got all the
shots we needed a week later on shoot 3
when everyone was able to attend.
Software


I already knew a considerable amount about
editing software's such as Adobe Photoshop
CS3 and Premiere Elements 9.0, however I got
to experiment with a software which was new
to me, Adobe Aftereffects CS3 which is what I
used to design the titles in our final piece this
was nice for me as I enjoy using new editing
software, however I did struggle with the
software at first but quickly got to grips with
what I was doing.
