7. Looking back at your
preliminary task, what do you
feel you have learnt in the
progression from it to full
product?
• Our preliminary task allowed our team
to assess the ideas that we could use
for our film product in a variety of
ways. During the shooting of our
preliminary task we were very limited
in regards to what we had access to.
• We weren’t able to use any sound
resources because the task only
required us to use a small script. This
was ineffective because usually in
horror films it is very common for
music to be included, as it adds to
the effect and it plays a big part.
• Due to the fact that we didn’t have a very
long script it meant that we couldn’t
produce an effective storyline and we
could only use a single location.
Differently, in our film opening we used
two locations, South Norwood Lake Park
and my house which had proven to be
more effective as it relates to our target
audience.
• Also, with regards to our storyline, we
was able to produce a storyline that
could relate to society due to it
being about two young people who
are both on the opposite sides of
how young people are portrayed in
the media.
• We weren’t able to use different
characters for the preliminary task but
we was able to use them for the film
opening itself, this meant that we
were able to give each character a
lifestyle that reflects society and the
audience would be able to relate to
each character through their
characteristics.
Conclusion
• To conclude, I believe that preliminary
task was able to bring us as a team
closer together and allowed us to
each use our own initiative to create
the film opening.
