Question 3 – What have
you learned from your
audience feedback?
Chosen target audience
• Looking into my genre I saw that they were mostly targeted at the older
generation, this is down to the mature content in the films. However I wanted to
challenge this and decided to use younger actors to portray my characters. Doing
this it would allow me to showcase my trailer to a wide variety of people who will
be able to enjoy it.
I looked at the website Uktribes
and saw a group of young people
who would be able to enjoy my
trailer, they are called ‘Leading
Edge.’ They enjoy being creative
and standing out, which is why I
think they would like my trailer as it
is a unique genre and I have used
creative shots, such as the canted
angled shots.
Target audience research
Initial feedback
• I made a first draft of my trailer and got a few students to give me
feedback, and tell me what I could improve.
Much of the criticism was based on
the lighting and how it affected the
actors face. I worked on this by making
the one clip were the female opens
the door and talks by making the shot
just a hint lighter compared to the
others.
As soon as I finished with this feedback
I looked into music as I thought it was
an incredibly important feature. I
found jazz music that would work well
with my trailer to create a moody and
mysterious atmosphere.
Teacher’s feedback.
From this I researched more into my genre and the audience. I then finalised my target
audience. When filming I dressed up my actors to make sure it looked authentic and
realistic as a Noir film.
This feedback helped me realise that my aspect ratio of my clips
were way off, and look squashed. I made the clips widescreen, which
looks much better and works more effectively.
From this I changed my error of miss spelling ‘role’ and changed my font. The
newest one makes it much easier to read as it is more bold and stands out
against the shot more.
