Who would be the audience for your media magazine?
When reading my magazine it becomes very clear who my target audience is.
One way you can tell the age range is through the text it’s self. Because my
target audience are either in full time or part time education the writing style
if still colloquial but sophisticated. The writing is exciting and appeals to the
interests of my target audience. The writing style of the magazine creates a
connection between the magazine and the reader as these may be interests
they love also because the writing is not patronising, it shows that the
magazine acknowledges there individual inelegance. The magazine talks to
them like the young adults they are rather than the children society tends to
treat them as.
When is was deciding my magazine demographic I created a survey to
find out the age, gender, musical interests and so on. When doing this I
found that my target audience would more than likely be aged between
16 and 24 and female.
Doing the survey became a great recourse for the creation of my
magazine as I took all the answers that I received into consideration to
create the best possible magazine for my demographic. As over 80% of
the answers for the question ‘what Is your gender’ were female I decided
that this would be my main audience. Also because nearly 70% of the
surveys audience were aged between 16 and 24 this became my target
age range.
Due to many of the participants taking part in the survey
had a some sort of musical background this also really
contributed to how I shaped the magazine to cater for
my target audience. I wasn’t to worried about also
including bands on the cover like ‘the smiths’ because of
my target audience having some for of musical
knowledge even though my main genres are pop, pop –
punk and acoustic it still made sense to venture out of
this firstly because most of my audience will be aware of
the band and because it gives a change to widen my
potential audience.
My target audience is teens/young adults
aged between 16 and 24 and are female.
They are more than likely still in full time or
part time education and have a big interest
in music more than likely having a wide
musical knowledge listening to music at
least 2 times a day or for long periods of
time and being able to play and
instruments confidently or having a great
interest in learning. Not one of them have
the same social life. The magazine offers
chances to win tickets to spend days out
with friends for the ones that are more
social but also has things available for the
parts of my audience that prefer to stay
indoors and spend time alone. They will
have some interest in fashion and will
often look up to artists like Eden and
Phoenix for modern and alternative fashion
inspiration this is also why the feature in
the magazine, elements like this will also
target my audience directly.
