  The target audiencefor our film are teenagers and young adults who enjoy watching psychological horror films, as this is our genre. Our film should attract both males and females in the 16-25 age range as the main character is a teenage girl. This would increase audience engagement and should increase the verisimilitude of the final product. We conducted pre-production research and asked both females and males. We asked the participants which age rating they would give the film with 60% of the people we asked saying that the certificate they would give the film is 15, therefore hitting our target audience correctly, and making us certain that we have chosen the right age group for Psychosis.

  We in turndecided to tone down our film to fit the correct genre therefore not including any graphic images. The cinematography, mise-en-scene, editing and sound was also slightly altered with faster paced editing, more jump cuts, darker colours and more dramatic and tense music to build up to the age rating and target audience. We found that by doing this, the film fits more into the psychological horror genre as well as making it easier to relate to the main protagonist that is Jenifer.
