How did you attract/address
your audience?
My target audience is mainly females
between the ages of 15 to 24. The
content of my magazine was mostly
influenced by the responses I got for
my target research. The sample of
people that took my survey stated
that they are interested in the
photography within a magazine. Due
to this result I have made sure that I
have got high quality successful
photographs to include in my
magazine.
The method I used to do my market
research was a survey on Surveymonkey. I
then copied the link to my Facebook and
posted it so people could take the survey.
The design and layout of my magazine
attracts the attention of my target
audience as I have used the Guttenberg
design principle to place elements of my
magazine in the correct places where they
will be seen. I feel like my magazine cover
has been equally balanced out and it is
clear where the initial important areas are.
On the cover of my magazine I have
included a circle which includes
information about how readers can win
tickets to see the artist on the cover. This
will attract my target audience as it is
stereotypically younger people who
attend concerts. My market research has
told me that most of my survey takers
attend 1-5 concerts per year.
I have carried a focus group where I have created a group on Facebook to
show my friends my finished product. I asked for responses based on my
product. This is the message I sent out:
Could you help me with my media coursework, just answer these questions
based on my magazine cover, double page spread and contents page.
1. What genre would you say my music magazine is?
2. What do you think of the photographs?
3. Do you think the fonts and colours are suitable?
4. Would you buy my magazine?
5. What is your overall comment?
Here are some of the responses I got:
The content of my magazine will address my target
audience as I have responded to the results I got during
question 4. I have taken on board the suggestions from
my survey results by including things that people said
they would like to see in a magazine. My focus group said
that they liked the photography in my magazine along
with the style concerning the colours and font. According
to my target research it is also clear what the genre is and
they all said that they would buy my magazine. This
shows that I have listened to my original sample and
included the elements they said they would want to see.
Things like photography, interviews and gig reviews has
helped my magazine become successful.
