Looking back at your
 preLiminary task, what do
you feeL you have Learnt in
 the progression from it to
     the fuLL product?
• Over the course of this project I have learnt a lot about film and industry. I have also learnt a lot
about my ability to work with other people and group work.

• I now know the importance of an opening sequence. It is the first part of the film your audience is
going to see so you need to keep them interested but not give too much away. Also, I have seen
that many opening sequences set up questions and have symbols like colors, objects and words
embedded in them. I also know now of the importance technology plays In the film making
process. It is essential that you know what your doing and are able to use the programmes. As
well you need to allow yourself time firstly to get comfortable with the programme but also to
change anything if you need to, for example, re- filming and editing. I now have a greater
knowledge of films too. I know that there are at least two different companies the distribute films
for very different reasons, for example, Hollywood for profit and British for distinctiveness. They
both produce very different films too like Warner Bros Batman and Warps This is England.

• With my group there were a lot of issues with commitment and time management which led us to
split up. Even though this wasn’t very convenient this was for the best as we each now have our
own work to show for. I soon realized there are a lot of roles involved with creating an opening
sequence and doing it on your own is hard. Next time I should plan more carefully and stick to the
plan I create and not leave things to the last minute. If I did this project again the main thing I
would change is my time management. I think that creating a list with dates and what I need to do
on it would have helped me.
• I think my skills have developed greatly since the preliminary task. This time I went outside of
school to film which was different to my preliminary but it did add extra work to find a suitable
place. It was also quiet windy when I filmed which didn’t help to steady the camera but I think the
filming still worked out ok despite this.
• I feel like included a better range of shots in my opening sequence that my preliminary. For
example, wide shots, low angles, close ups and a zoom. I think this has portrayed how my skills
have developed. I also wanted to include a focus pull but the camera wasn’t working.
• Another thing I id different was that I included ,music which I think helped with setting the scene. I
used some incidental music of an ‘urban’ beat so the audience could understand that it was set in
a city. I also used sound effects like school ambience, school bell and heartbeat to create the
right atmosphere. I think this worked really well because they help the audience understand
    where they are.

Overall I would think that my skills have improved since my preliminary as I have used more
technologies, like sound, and shown more skill in my shots. However, I still think I have a long
way to go before being properly skilled and I think I am still at a basic level.
