Question four
Out target audience was people aged 17 and above to the age of 35 as our film
was rated R. we decided to rate it R after doing some research from existing films
and our audience research, that asked people what they would like from out film.
Once we got the feedback from the questions we then analysed it and then
decided that it would be best to have our film rated R. our opening film would
appeal more to males as it contains violence, however it doesn’t just appeal to
the male audiences as there are some elements of enigma which would appeal to
a wider audience. There are also elements that would appeal to teenagers as the
hoodie that was used in the opening film would appeal more to teenagers. We
decided this as other noir films contained this amount of violence and sometimes
sex appeal. However in our film there was some violence and no sex appeal.
Question Five
We addressed our audience by using the research from our audience research to
focus on the type of audience that we decided our film would be. From there we
then based the plot and the characters for that age group/target audience. These
things included a violent plot; this would then appeal to the audience, as the
conventions that we used would be seen as interesting to the target audience as
they would want to see what happed. Also the use of the enigma from the plot
twist attracted the audience in, this was because it would then make the
audience question what is going on, what is so important about the package. This
would the make them want to see the film.
It is important to attract a specific audience as it will be easier to appeal to that
one group, for example if we wanted the opening film to appeal to everyone then
it would make the plot and the tone of the film completely different, and more
difficult to get people to want to watch it. This would then cause us to lose
money.
