Questionnaire Analysis

Introduction
• The purpose of the questionnaire and the
analysis is to see what appeals to the target
audience and what to add to make it more
appealing. To do this, I created a
questionnaire consisting of 10 questions and
asked them to the age group I was hoping to
appeal to.
Gender
Female
Male
Age
15-21
22-30

The age group was more
15-21 because that was
our target audience.
Sub-genre
Action
Sci Fi
Supernatural
Comedy
Horror
Psychological
Romance
The most popular subgenre is action which is beneficial to us as it’s what our
subgenre is. The second popular one was comedy and so we will incorporate
some elements of comedy into our work.
What do you like about a thriller
movie?
Death
Supernatural
Sci-Fi
Spies
Chase
Other
On this the most popular aspect liked in a thriller movies were Spies
and death and this has helped us improve our work as though we
included spies, there wasn’t any death in our work, however we have
now included a death of a character.
Fiction or non-fiction
Fiction
Non-fiction
We asked this question to finalise whether our target audience preferred
the movies to be based on a true story or not, and the conclusion for this is
that they prefer fiction and therefore we will make up a narrative.
What makes you want to watch a
thriller movie?
The Cast
The Genre
The Trailer
The Director
Storyline
Due to the most popular answer being the storyline, we have tried our best to make
the storyline as interesting as possible by including the codes and conventions.

opening scene?
Mystery
Suspense
Backstory
Action
Other
Suspense and mystery were the most preferred element to see in the
opening scenes and due to this, we have tried to add as much of this to our
work.
What do you dislike about thriller
movies?
Vage information
Too predictable
Bad acting
Doesn’t go together
Other
The most disliked thing about thriller movies that our audience didn’t want to
see in our work was for it to be too predictable so though the outline of our
idea is quite a simple idea, we tried to incorporate our own ideas into it so
that it’s interesting and also unpredictable.
For this question, the respondents were allowed to select as many as they
wanted. The most favourite movie was Taken and joint second was James
Bond and The Bourne Ultimatum. This helped us realise what elements we
needed to include to succeed as a thriller action movie and to make it liked.
Before doing the questionnaire, we envisioned the movie to have
similarities with James Bond and The Bourne Ultimatum, so it gave us an
idea that we were on the right track.
Favourite thriller movie
Taken
James Bond
The Hunger Games
Inception
What Lies beneath
Black Swan
The Bourne Ultimatum
Open question
• The open question was “When you hear the word ‘thriller’
what do you automatically think of?”
The responses we got were very similar. Some of the most
popular answers were:
• Mystery
• Suspense
• Death
• Good vs bad
• Crime
• To be on edge of seat.
With these results, we hope to include these conventions in
our work to attract the target audience.
