Redeem your Time.
How to use what God has given you……The series Three Stewardship principles: 1. You do not own anything… all you have belongs to God. 2. You will have to give an account of how how you use what God has allowed you to use. 3. If God can trust you with something small, He will trust you with something bigger.
Today we will be looking at Time
Time There are 24 hours in a day!
Not one minute more, not one minute less There are 8,760 hours a year 613,200 hours for an average life of 70 yrs. The average person sleeping 8 hours a night… sleeps 204,400 hours in their life… That leaves 408,800 hours of awake time…. How many of those do you serve God?…
Let’s see… For the average Christian: 1 hour for Sunday School 1 hour for worship….. That is only 104 hours a year…. Or 4.3 days.. a year!! And that is if you come every Sunday to Sunday School AND Worship
But hold on…. There are some that come to Sunday School, Sunday morning Worship, Sunday evening Worship, and Wednesday evening… Surely they are spending a lot more time serving God….. Really?
Let’s add this up.. So we’ll add an extra 1 hour each for Sunday and Wednesday we have… a whopping 208 hours!! Or only 8.6 days a year.
The importance of Sunday evening and Wednesday evening. If you don’t attend these two services you miss out on a lot of things… And as we grow, you will even begin to feel left behind because you are not active in the service of God.
But those Christians that attend all 4 services a week are not better Christians than others.. After all, 8 full days a year is not much to devote to the Savior that gave His whole life for you. There is more to being a Christian than just coming to church. Christianity is a lifestyle, not a custom.
Being A Christian is a 24 hour a day thing… Not just on Sundays. Ephesians 5:14-20 (14)  Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. (15)  See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, (16)  Redeeming the time , because the days are evil. (17)  Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord [is]. (18)  And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; (19)  Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; (20)  Giving thanks  always  for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Redeeming the Time 1) We are only given so much time: we don't own time. 2) We will give account on how we spend our time. 3) God will stretch time when we are good stewards.
1) We are only given so much time: we don't own time. Psalms 90:10 The days of our years [are] threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength [they be] fourscore years, yet [is] their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
If you only had 72 hours to live how would you live it… Some said, they would tell everyone that they loved them Some said they would become adventurous. Some said they would witness to family so that they would go to Heaven too. What would you do?
YOU MAY NOT HAVE 72 HOURS LEFT!!!!!!
You don’t own time… You are only borrowing it. Do you wish you could go back and do things over? Do you regret all the time you spent not serving the Lord? There will come a day when you will have to give account of your life.
2) We will give account on how we spend our time. Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: If you are lost, you will stand before the Great White throne judgement, and you will then be cast into the lake of fire that burns forever and ever….
Revelation 20:10-12 (10) And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet [are], and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (11) And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. (12) And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is [the book] of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Revelation 20:13-15 (13) And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. (14) And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. (15) And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
The Saved will stand before the Judgment seat of Christ.. Here we will be reward for the deeds we do in our life…. How we spend our time.. 2 Corinthians 5:10 (10) For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things [done] in [his] body, according to that he hath done, whether [it be] good or bad.
1 Corinthians 3:11-15 (11) For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. (12) Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; (13) Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. (14) If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. (15) If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
We must give an account… For the Lost, if they don’t want to spend the time developing a relationship with Jesus.. They will spend an eternity in Hell. They will get what they wish… Separation from God.
For the Christian… We will have to give an account of stewardship when we stand before God… If God asks you how you spent your time on Earth serving him.. How will you answer?
The last principle of stewardship is found in Luke 16:10 (10) He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.
If God can trust you in the little things, he will trust you with bigger things. But if you refuse to spend time serving God, don’t expect him to reward you with extra time. God has a way of stretching time…
Joshua 10:13-14 (13) And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. [Is] not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. (14) And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.
Isaiah 38:1-5 (1) In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live. (2) Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, (3) And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done [that which is] good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. (4) Then came the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying, (5) Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.
So how do I redeem my time here on Earth? 1) realize that from the moment you were conceived to the moment of death… God gave it to you… Eph. 5:(20)  Giving thanks  always  for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
2) Learn to manage time One day you will give an account… Might as well start tracking your time today. As an exercise, for 1 week make a chart of all you do. Look back over it, and see where you wasted your time.
3) When you start to do something for God, ask him to give you the time to do it. If it is in God’s will, he will make a way for you to do it. Do you want to serve God? Then don’t be a half hearted Christian… Give Him the time due him… Don’t skimp on Him… He didn’t skimp on you!
