This document summarizes research on middle-skills jobs in Southeast Michigan. It finds that 37% of projected job growth over the next five years will be in middle-skills jobs that require more than a high school diploma but less than a 4-year degree. The fastest growing middle-skills jobs are in health sciences and technology fields. Many of these jobs can be obtained through training programs at local community colleges. Middle-skills jobs provide a pathway to higher wages and economic success, with typical wages over $15 per hour and potential for wage increases over time.
