  The CD coveris clear who the band is as the writing is big and bold which makes it stand out on the cover ‘scouting for girls’. The cover matches the rest of the album as the red background is constant throughout the album with the white writing which stands out well. The pictures on the front cover fit the band name as well as album title on the front cover; the album title is placed to the side of the television in an advertisement puff which also fits in with the idea of television. The girl standing on top of the television fits in with the band name ‘scouting for girls’. The band name is written in a masculine blue colour whilst the woman and album cover is in red to portray some femininity. The back of the album has a lot of white space as it just has the song names at the side of the cover. The back is much more simple compared to the front which has more visual clutter. The back also includes the label and other various information including who distributed it, the copyright of labels and trademarks. The front cover of the album is more eye catching as it has various pictures and colours, this helps to portray the bands genre of music.

  The CD covershows the artist as well as involving the album name ‘bright lights’ by putting lights around the artist in a natural setting. The natural surroundings and soft colours could portray that she has some emotional slow songs on her album whereas the lights could show a more upbeat song. The album is eye catching as its something different which could show her genre as partly indie but also has bright lights and the font is in gold and bright which could show some pop. The front and the back of the album cover are very similar and keep the same theme of lights throughout. The back of the CD cover has no white space as its cluttered from the lights in the background which I think works well as it fits with the theme of the music and album name. The names of the songs are also in the same font as the album name, with gold text and a glow around it to make it match the light theme. The label of the artist is at the bottom of the track and also includes her official website for updates on the artist.

  The front ofthe album cover has the artist and his name clearly, in his brand identity which can easily be recognised. The album title is underneath the artists name. I like the front cover of this album as it works really well with the album title ‘playing in the shadows’ which involves the artist himself. Although the front cover is not full of clutter it still works well as you focus on the artist as half of his face is in the shadows, its eye-catching and interesting. The bright yellow colour for his name makes the artist stand out. The back of the album cover continues the them of shadows and keeps the same house colours throughout the album; white, black and yellow. Using these colours attracts readers attention as they all work together and the yellow looks really bright and portrays the important part of the album. In this case the important part would be the name of the album. I like the way the tracks are set out in small neat writing.

  The front ofthe CD album looks like a cartoon type of theme, with the artist small standing next to a doll house. The theme goes with the title of the album ‘made of bricks’. Kate Nash is in a red bright dress which stands out from the rest of the picture which shows she is important. Her name is clear and so is the album cover above the chimney maybe making it look like smoke. The back of the album cover is very simple, with just a plain background and track names. The names of the track continue with the theme of ‘cartoon’ as its in a more pop font which looks like hand writing. The unusual album cover and hand writing portrays her genre as more indie as it’s showing something different but also could be showing pop by the way Kate Nash is dressed.

  Underneath the tracklist there is a paragraph which consists of the copyrights and who has marketed and distributed the album. The design of the album shows us that Coldplay is a band by having a picture of them together on the back whereas on the front it looks like the sun which shows us different seasons. I think the CD cover gives the audience an idea of what sort of band they are trying to portray, the front looks calm but also has dark colours which could give us and idea of a rock/indie band. The front of the CD cover does not relate to the back but is still and effective album cover as it has a clear artist and album name at the top with the main image in the centre. The back cover is much brighter that the front and the tracks stand out in white compared to the rest of the picture with is duller.

  On the backof the cover it has ‘Sony Music’ in the corner representing the company and also has the track list small in the top right hand corner. The Script’s website is also a the top of the back cover to attract audiences and allow target audiences to purchase any items. The front cover of The Script relates to the back as well as they both have two hands holding each other. The CD keeps the same house style by using dark colours such as brown and black. The album has the bands name at the top in their logo which will be easily recognised and underneath it says the albums name ‘science&faith’, this could give us an idea that they are trying to portray and old theme throughout the CD.
