A Star Falling from Heaven

Revelation 9

Revelation 9
5th Trumpet
Verse one: “And the ﬁfth Angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the
bottomless pit”

This star is actually an Angel who came down from Heaven at great speed.
Jesus makes a characterization of the speed Satan fell from Heaven
Luke 10:18
“And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.”
Angels are no more stars than they are lightning, but the language is
designed to be descriptive of the Angels interactions with man or the planet.

Where Jesus in Luke and John’s statements in Revelation about Angels are metaphors, there are other statements
that are presumptively made by man and are alleged as factual - but have no more basis in fact then descriptive
metaphors.
Job (Job 1:21) the Lord giving and taking away, Job was making a statement of what he “believed” he was not
speaking ﬁguratively or metaphorically.
Truly stated, NOT a statement of Truth

Manoah and his wife call an Angel a man - Judges 13:11-21,
Men are NOT Angels

John called Jesus an Angel Revelation 22:8-16

“and to Him was given the key to the bottomless pit” - (Him, is the Angel)
Verse two: “And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the
sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit”
The bottomless pit - Greek “abyss,” is an actual “physical” place located on earth. It is a holding place for the most
evil of Angels and plagues of the Lord (Rev 11:7-8, 17:8, beast rises from, Satan is bound there Rev 20:1-3, 2Peter 2:4, Jude 6, Gen. 6:2.)
It is one of the secret things of God, just as the Garden of Eden is an actual physical place located on the Earth.
NOTE: Key is in Heaven

“and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the
smoke of the pit”
The smoke that comes from the pit is substantial enough to blot out the sun, like a volcanic
ash plume.

Verse three: “And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the
earth have power”

Swarms of deadly hornets have killed more than 40 people and injured more than 1,600 in northern China.
Victims of the attack have been left with deep, dark craters in their skin the size of bullet wounds. Over the past
three months January - March 2017 the cities of Angkang, Hanzhong and Shangluo have been worst affected.

Verse four: “And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither
any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads”
Locust NOT following their nature

There are “only” 144K people on the planet at this time, with God’s seal on their foreheads
(Rev. 7:5-8). These are Jews and the evangelist of the tribulation.

Verse five: “And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their
torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man”
These are more than flying scorpions, these creatures have never been seen before on earth or in Heaven “at all”
The locusts seen up to this point are the type described in the plagues of Egypt. (Exodus 10:12-15). These locusts of
the tribulation are different in style and substance.

“And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.”

Locust not far fetched - Angels themselves are shocked consider what already exist…

Verse six: “And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not ﬁnd it; and shall desire to die, and death shall ﬂee from
them”
Any attempts at suicide will simply make matters worse. You have to deal with it.

Verse seven: “And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were
crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men”
“Like unto horses prepared unto battle”
Locusts are wearing battle gear, the crowns they wear represent their authority to rule over
man during their assault and they have the power to overcome mans defenses.

“Their faces were as faces of men”
Verse eight: “And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions”
This creates a shock value that is disarming to men, it also symbolizes that these locusts are intelligent.
The hair means they are seductive, the teeth like lions, refers to them being ferocious and cruel.

Verse nine: “And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of
chariots of many horses running to battle”
The breastplates of iron mean they are difﬁcult to kill.

The sound of their wings are symbolic of a conquering army, designed to invoke fear when you hear them
coming.

Verse ten: “And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men ﬁve
months”
They torture man relentlessly for ﬁve months.

Verse eleven: “And they had a king over them, which is the Angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is
Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon”
The names Abaddon and Apollyon means Destroyer, this designation is also used for Satan
(Psalm 17:4; 1 Corinthians 10:10).
The destroyer makes his ﬁrst appearance in Egypt. He kills all the ﬁrstborn of Egypt.
“the Lord will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come into your houses to smite you” (Exodus 12:23)

This passage makes some very subtle and distinct points. (Exodus 12:23)
• God did not allow the destroyer to kill anyone who followed His instructions, (the blood on the doors in Israel).
• God is Omniﬁcent - He is in control of the Destroyer
God created all things including evil, as such, God uses everything, including evil for His purposes.
“I form light and create darkness, I make peace and create evil, I the Lord do all these things” (Isaiah 45:7, 31:1-2,
Deuteronomy 32:39, 1 Samuel 2:6; Jeremiah 4:3-6, 6:19, 11:11, 18:11, 25:28-29)
God Himself is in control and nothing happens outside of His will, including the activities of Satan, demons and
the evil they do.

6th Trumpet (2nd Woe)
Verse Twelve: “One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more, hereafter”
Verse thirteen: “And the sixth Angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God”
These four horns, are the four Angels holding the same horns that were used to announce
the four previous plagues on the planet.

Verse fourteen: “Saying to the sixth Angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four Angels which are bound in the great river
Euphrates”
These four Angels are a separate group of Angels than the four Angels in the Euphrates River, which is located in
Mesopotamia at Asia Minor near Jerusalem.

Verse fifteen: “And the four Angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to
slay the third part of men”
An hour, a day, a month and year is 396 days, roughly a third of the midpoint of the tribulation, which is 1260
days or 31⁄2 years. The 31⁄2 years is a type and shadow of…
• 3 days Jonah spent in the belly of the fish (Jonah 1:17)
• 3 days Jesus was in the grave (Matthew 12:40; Mark 8:31)
• 3 1⁄2 years of Jesus’ ministry on earth.
• Moses being hid for three months by his parents (Hebrews 11:23)
• The three voices from Heaven admonishing Peter. (Acts 11:7-11)
• Heaven being shut up for 31⁄2 years, no rain (Luke 4:25)
• The two witnesses being dead in the street for 31⁄2 days (Rev. 11:9-11)
These Angels will kill the 3rd of the population over an 864 day period leading up to the midpoint.
• 1260 days is 31⁄2 years
• They have 396 days out of the 1260 to prepare
• Which leaves 864 days to kill a third of man, not difficult for Angels considering…..
2 Kings 19:32-37
“And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the Lord went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred
fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.”
Fourscore is 80, or 185,000 in one night.

2 Samuel 24:15-17
15 So the Lord sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed: and there died of the people from
Dan even to Beersheba seventy thousand men.
16 And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the Lord repented him of the evil, and said to the
angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of the Lord was by the threshingplace of
Araunah the Jebusite.
17 And David spake unto the Lord when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done
wickedly: but these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father's house.
An other occasion an Angel kills 70,000 in one day

Verse sixteen: “And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of
them”
The army of the horseman comes out of the Euphrates River with the four Angels. The number two hundred
thousand thousands, is 200 million horsemen. This army is made up of Angels or Demons, not worldly creatures.
There aren’t 200 million horses in the entire world today. At most there are about 60 million worldwide. China’s
horse population is less than 7.5 million

Verse seventeen: “And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of
jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke
and brimstone”
Humans can’t wear fire, or perhaps even manage a literal creature as depicted. The breastplates of fire that these
horsemen are wearing are covered in gems call Jacinct, which is a reddish orange Zircon.
Brimstone is sulfur, creates a terrible noxious gas coming from
the breastplates.

The heads of the horses are lions, which represents strength and power. The fire, smoke and brimstone are the
three plagues.
Brimstone/Sulfer
• Brimstone means, "burning stone" or, "the stone that burns."
• When a plain brimstone is exposed to the air, nothing happens- when lit, it will burn like a liquid fire, and it emits noxious
fumes.
• The stone melts like wax with a peculiar thick fire.
• As it burns, it has a rich, fluorescent-deep colbalt bluish color.
• It becomes a sticky, "acidy"- burning fire.
• NO HUMANS involved here, NOT CHINA as many think.

Verse eighteen: “By these three was the third part of men killed, by the ﬁre, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which
issued out of their mouths”
The three plagues coming out of the two hundred million horses is the ﬁre, smoke and
brimstone. A third of the people on the planet are killed by this. They are not killed by the
“Riders” but by the “Horses”.
It is important to note, men still have an opportunity to repent. But these people, despite all
the drama that ensues, become even more obstinate towards God.

Verse nineteen: “For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads,
and with them they do hurt”
The horses’ tails have serpent heads on them, like the lion heads in the front of the horse,
which is to say that ﬁre comes out of both ends of the horse

Verse twenty: “And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands,
that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor
hear, nor walk”
“and the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet, repented not of the works of their
hands”
In spite of all thats happening, the people continue to worship idols and would not repent.
Verse twenty-one: “Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts”
Man is at war with himself during this time, the spirit of the Lord is far from them, as a
result of the hardening of men’s heart, things get worse and man’s character will
deteriorate even further
